Low astigmatism correction?

Question:
Is it normal to have a mild astigmatism (like, -75/x100) but not need near/farsighted vision correction? Are contacts available for this type of correction? I've worn glasses for years and have recently thought about going to contacts, but didn't know if it's possible.

Answer:
Well I'm no doctor, but I believe there is such thing as a mild astigmatism. I have astigmatism in both eyes and I can wear contacts just fine. Go to the eye doctor and they will be able to tell you what type of contact would be right for you. They take a little while to get used to though, so don't get discouraged!
This small amount of astigmatism often does not need spectacle or contact lens prescription. Soft lenses now have astigmatism correction incorporated into them. Often gas perms work also. This site tells about your eye prescription: www.eyeprescription.com
I wear contacts that correct for astigmatism. They work better than my glasses.
