I believe you will find it interesting. ;-)

Regards,
I don't know about being a pilot but you can be a navigator.
If you have bad eye sight you wont get accepted but you might want to ask them personally about the lasiks.
As long as your vision is correctable to 20/20 you can be a pilot provided you make it through the training. You can count out being a fighter pilot. You would probably get thrown in a logistics support aircraft.
There are positions in the Air Force that you could still get, but I wouldn't count on becoming a pilot.
The closest your going to get to being a fighter pilot, is scrubbing the deck of an aircraft carrier..

Sorry to be so blunt...but the airforce has so many PERFECT applicants, you aren't even going to be considered.

To be a fighter pilot you have to have perfect everything...sight, hearing, physical, medical, emotional, mental, scholastic, ...and sad to say..GENDER is a factor, though some will claim that it isn't...they will choose a man over a woman, even if you are equal on all other terms.

The airforce is extremely descrimanatory when it comes to choosing pilots, and they will make you agree to their own descriminatory practices when you enlist.

You got a better chance at becoming an astronaut.
i don't know if you can be a pilot, but as long as you have glasses or contacts they'll let you in, my husband needs glasses and he joined 4 years ago, he loves it and is staying in, good luck! and thank you for joining!
You do know you need a University degree to become a pilot, right ?

You cannot enlist in the Air Force to become a pilot.

As of May 2007, the Air Force is allowing all pilot candiates to have had Lasik or PRK eye surgery.

For enlisted enlistments, your vision just has to be correctable to around 20/100.

For Pilot candiates, your uncorrected vision must be no worse than 20/50 and your corrected vision must be atleast 20/20.
It is possible to join the Air Force if you wear glasses. I did for the whole eight years I was in.

There's many jobs in the USAF that aren't flying jobs. And some flying positions do allow glasses, like loadmaster on cargo planes, boom operator on tankers, etc.
You can certainly enlist..they will tell you if your vision is an issue. However, to be a pilot you will need a college degree before you ever see the inside of the plane and vision restrictions are much tighter in that field.
Without being too biased, if you want to be a pilot, join the Army. Granted you will most definately be flying a helicopter, at least you would be flying.

I know you can have lasik, PRK, etc and still join the airforce, however I believe that is an -automatic- disqualifier, no waivers for an Air Force jet pilot. (I could be wrong)

Keep in mind as said above, the chances of becoming an Air Force pilot are so remote it wouldnt be worth trying to compete against a 'perfect' applicant with your corrected eyesight.

Not too sure about the other services, but the Army will actually pay for PRK or Lasik to be done on you.
