How was your lasik experience?

Question:
I'm scheduled to get my lasik done this friday and I just want to know what your experience was like. I'm having my nearsightedness corrected. SO tell me about after surgery, healing process, irritation, night vision issues, etc ... anything I should know.

Answer:
It was fast. First thing, and this is the only uncomfortable part, the surgeon has to cut a flap into the cornea (the very front part of your eye). Then he folds it back for the surgery, so it can go back into place and heal faster.
I had to stare at a little light. I felt a little something in my eye, but it wasn't the surgeon, it wasn't me. It musta been the laser. It didn't hurt. Especially when I thought that over twenty years of correction was being undone, I was happy.
I heard a few clicks. He had me sit up in the chair, and asked me "what time is it? The clocks on the wall" I looked up, thinking i couldn't ever in my life, since I knew how to tell time, see the clock across the room without my glasses or contacts.
I could see perfectly clear. It was like the machine just put my contacts in. But it didn't. I could really see - perfectly. Well, kinda. The tears made my vision a little blurry for a sec. Yeah I cried because I couldn't believe it. I was brand new like a baby. It was so exciting I gave the surgeon a hug. I could see! For the first time ever. It was like being born.
I had to wear eye patches over both eyes for a couple days. It was awesome to have a break and stay in bed. The doc gave me some drops, and my eyes needed drops a lot.
I would look up at the ceiling and noticed the texture up there for the first time. I could read my clock from across the room. Life just got a lot better.
I'm happy for you. Have a good new life. Enjoy it and make it great, because you can watch it happen now.
My sister's eyes are permanently damaged from LASIK.
Mine rocked except for the total blindness.

Just kidding.

Actually I went from 20/450 to 20/15 in 24 hours. Remember it will take a couple days to get to the "real" results so don't be alarmed if you don't get perfect results right away. Takes a little time to get the swelling down and all, at least with my type of procedure which was the older kind. So yours may vary in terms of recovery time.

Night vision is a little worse but no big deal. No "starring" or anything of street lights.

Overall the best medical procedure I have ever had, bar none.
I was legally blind up til two years ago when I had lasik, Love it!! It is the greatest thing I have ever done. No down time , Recovery? What recovery?! I did have halos around lights at night, they went away in about 2 weeks.
Good Luck!
It was good. The pain was minimal and I could see better when I left the doctor's office. The next day I could see perfectly and still can. I had it done two years ago. The only drawback I have had is my eyes get extremely dry now, so I have to use eye drops for moisture. Also if I read a lot my eyes get strained, but that could happen with glasses or contacts too. Good Luck.
After surgery was a piece of cake. By an hour after the procedure I could read stuff I know I could never see before. By that night I was reading the words at the bottom of the TV. Only irritation I had was dry eyes for several weeks after, night vision problems I have starbursts around lights at night but I barely notice them now.

I'm now 20/15 overall. Worth every penny.
