Is this a realistic goal?

Question:
Im going into college next year as a finance major and I plan to learn everything involving buisness in my 4 years at college everything ranging from accounting to what ever business type that starts with a z. during school probably around my junior year I would begin to prepare taxes for people I know and if I do a good job on theirs I know they will tell their friends and family and then I can get more customers and by the time I graduate I can start giving stock tips and financial advise to the public. I plan to do all of this like out of my house at first and then moving on to having my own buidling. Is this a realistic goal or am I just dreaming?

Answer:
Noone can ever assure you of any realistic goal.
we do not know what happens next day.
Dreams can come true.simply go what you feel is right.
It's a good (realistic) goal in broad terms. As you go through school you will no doubt fine tune it to account for specific intermediate goals.
sorry to tell you this but yes you are
I'd start by learning correct grammar and punctuation. You might be good with numbers, but I certainly wouldn't bring my taxes to you after reading that.
Yea that's a good dream yes it's realistic but just put your mind to it. If you can put your mind to it you can do anything! Remember That! And Good luck!
You can do anything you put your mind to, Good luck and may all your dreams come true.
Very realistic. Just do your homework, be on top off your game and don't give up. Starting a business can be slow going at first but it starts with a plan, and you have that.

Go for it!
You got to Conceive an idea, then you got to Believe in your idea, then Achieve your idea.Nothing is impossible for a person who will truly apply themselves with 100% dedication.I don't even know you and yet I admire that you have these goals for yourself.Yes I believe that you can accomplish this task.Good Luck!
It's a bit ambitious. First, you'll need to intern in the various types of jobs you are contemplating as they are all detailed and extensive.

Tax preparation means you will be studying every year all the changes in the tax codes since they change every year.

Same with stocks and bonds - there are do's and don'ts, and there are very strict laws on trading that you will need to know.

If you want to do any extensive accounting, you will need to pass the CPA exams before any large companies or people with money will trust you to do anything with their funds.

Usually, in any of the fields you mentioned, an MBA will be a necessity as well to cover the more intricate accounting and management roles you will need to fill.

If you can do all this in four years, you're smarter than most and will probably succeed. If not, then you need to either add to the timeframe or scale back your goals.
I think you will make a fantastic professional. You know what you want and are passionate about it. You are giving it your constant thought, that will keep you on track too.
I had a similar thought process as yours, and so I can resonate with your question. It makes no difference if your goals are realistic or in the formative stage of dreams, just feel good about them and keep yourself in a positive attitude regarding their achievement.
I am a business major in Entrepreneurship. I have a lot of friends taking finance courses. If you are going to be doing accounting and taxes...then you should concentrate on getting a degree in accounting.

If you want to help people invest, then take one in finance.

If you want to start your own company like I do, then take the entrepreneurship courses.

You can get a double major, and a lot of my friends are, like Entrepreneurhsip and Finance, or Marketing and Entrepreneurship...or whatever combinations.

It sounds like whatever you would do would involve helping people with their money. Let me just say this little piece of advice:

3 classes is a full load. It is very difficult trying to do anything besides studying taking so many credits. It is all about group work and presentations, projects, 10-20 page reports...that you will be amazed at how difficult juggling a load like this is.

I am a junior now, and could not imagine having the time to do anything else except get though the courses. You can try and start a business in your spare time...but there won't be any.

I would concentrate on school work, begin to network on campus, get an internship with a finance company over the summer, you will make connections. The business school has a ton of recruiters trying to get to know you. Use your professors for reference, and the new friends you will make.

There are a ton of sharp students at this level, and you will get to know them, and they will be an excellent resource for you because many have your same ideas.

My big advice: Get the professors to know who you are. See them during their office hours.

Good luck, if you go to Facebook. com keep me as a "friend"
