Which major is better?
Question:
A question I had, would be; Would it be better to major in Accounting and minor in CIS and pick up certifications, So then I can be marketable in a business atmosphere, OR, just continue with CIS with a business admin minor?
I would like to make a career as either a IT professional, or someone using technology for financial reasons/stock/etc..
Help!
Answer:
Accounting doesnt have anything to do with IT, so if you majored in accounting, you would not be doing what you are interested in doing. You will be doing more work that is related to business and less work on IT, programming, etc... You can also get an MBA and an MBA will definately make you even more marketable than an accounting major and a CIS minor.
You should stick with your current major and minor. I think you will help you accomplish your career goals (switching your major and minor will not, in my opinion)
Major is CIS, minor in Business Administration. Later on you can get an MBA.
The IT field most often looks for degrees in comptuer science or information systems.
If you're looking to work in IT, stick with the CIS major.
By the way, I would highly recommend trying to get an internship or some other work experience prior to graduation. It makes you infinitely more marketable post-graduation.
No; get a straight degree in computer science or computer information systems, there is a heck amount of money in this industry and if you are legally permitted to work in united states, just send your resume to those silicon valley companies and start living a dream life, there is a huge demand for people with this degree and you shouldn't be worried about landing a job if market retains its strong status; Good luck
