Spectactular birthday present for amazing mother turning 50??

Question:
My mother is turning 50 this year and I really want to do something amazing for her because she deserves it more than anyone I've ever known. I can't tell you how incredible that she is. But, here's the catch. I am not well off. We do OK but I'm really not rich. I wanted to get her plane tickets for a vacation or something, but I probably couldn't afford it by July, which is when her Birthday is. So, I was thinking of starting some sort of savings account in her name so she'd have an easy way to save for a nice vacation or SOMETHING like that. She really deserves it but I don't really know about savings accounts or anything like that or even stocks?! Does anyone know about stocks as gifts or anything along these lines or ANY incredibly b-day present ideas are much appreciated! Thank you so much!! :)

Answer:
Going with your Savings Account idea, a really cool one is ING Direct. If you opened one you can save yourself money, and then there is a way to "invite your mom" by sending her an invite with a gift balance in it. So she would get an invitation to join the bank and start her account with your gift of X dollars.

It would start you with a nice place to save up to.

You can get a sign up bonus of 25 if your initial deposit is 250+ if I give you an invitiation code. I think your Mom would get the same thing if enough money was put into it.

e-mail me if you would like the invite

give her a rose and a kiss
Take her to get a massage at a spa. Sometimes you can find ones that aren't that expensive. Or just do a mother daughter day. You can go get a manicure and pedicure and then go to lunch. I am sure that your mother would love it and more so love spending the day with you.

Are there still Glamor Shots around?

If not have a picture done with the two of you.
As an equally amazing mother who also turned 50 this year, I truly enjoyed a SPA day. They can cost anywhere from $50 to $200 or more. Mine included a shampoo, cut and blow dry, eyebrow waxing and a make-up lesson (finally!). Another interesting gift (I bought myself actually) was the DVD called "The Secret". Now THAT is a life changing experience perfect for reaching half a century in one piece! Mothers don't ask fo much. Spending time with us like a lunch together is always appreciated (especially on your dime LOL!) ...Hope this helps!
