Can I buy my stock options with money from a roth IRA account?

Question:
i have vested stock options. i would like to purchase the shares at the issue price and roll them into my Roth IRA. my Roth IRA is all cash at this point.

Answer:
You can not roll any investments that are outside of any qualified retirement plan (such as 401(k), 403(b), and IRAs).

You say you have stocks right now and want to put them into a Roth IRA. First thing you need to check if the company you have the Roth IRA with offers stocks. If they do, you have to sell your stocks and then purchase new stocks in the IRA.

Anyway, I wouldn't put stocks into a Roth IRA. I would only put mutual funds into it. You can't sell stocks or investments in a Roth IRA without paying penalties. IRA is for long term investment for retirement only.
