Is it not time to find new arrangement requires that "we dismantle the corporate agenda."?

Question:
"The devastation" of job losses "pre-dates—but has been exponentially increased under—George Bush. An Economic Policy Institute study showed a nearly 900,000 net jobs loss due to NAFTA trade policies from 1993 to 2002—78 percent of them in manufacturing. An AFL-CIO report registered three million manufacturing jobs lost between 2001 and 2005. And of the union jobs lost in 2004, 55 percent "were held by black workers, even though they represented only 13 percent of total union membership," according the black labor writer Dwight Kirk. "More stunningly," said Kirk, "African American women accounted for 70 percent of the union jobs lost by women in 2004."
"The nation is less safe and humane than it was five years ago," said William Lucy, international secretary-treasurer of AFSCME, addressing the 36th annual convention of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. "The stock market hit 13,000 two weeks ago—how many of y'all feel richer?"
we have "cutthroat economy in ‘which greed is good'"

Answer:
It is. I say we use their weapons against them. If ratings is what they live by, let's give the ratings to the independent stations that deserve it.
We NEED to promote independent media, follow it and recommend it. I generally do it by quoting my personal favorites and providing links every chance i get.
They are Democracynow.org , Counterpunch.com , Democracyrising.us , ifamericansknew.org , indymedia.org and Al-Jazeera.net (English.Al-Jazeera.net). There are also substantial Progressive data bases including Chomsky.info , Znet.com and the Marxist archives.

Power to the PEOPLE.

BTW, there is an article in Counterpunch about the role of blacks as the most progressive workers in the US and how that is the reason they are systematically avoided by employers. The author cites the possibility of a Hispanic/Black worker alliance as the only hope to regain workers' rights in the ol' US of A. If you are interested in the link (it is a past issue and i won;t look for it if you don;t want to read it), just say so in an answer to any of my open questions.
I sure would like to see you try it, although I can not imagine what you would replace it with
I completely agree with you, and I also believe that change can happen. But, it will take large numbers of people banning together to make a whole lot of noise about it. So the key is to spread awareness in every way you can. And keep on doing so, even when it seems like nobody is listening. *sm*
1) If the jobs were lost between 1993 and 2002, who was the president in most of those years? Duh. And, no, it hasn't been "exponentially increased" under Bush. Unemployment is DOWN - waaaaaay down. Besides, THERE IS A JOB IN THIS COUNTRY FOR EVERYONE WHO WANTS ONE! People just need to get off their rears and get one. I've never in my life been out of work longer than a few days or a week -- because I refuse to be! I work like a fiend to find a job, if I've lost one. And that's what everyone needs to do -- BUT I personally see what many people do when they're out of work -- they send out a couple resumes a week, go on one or two interviews per week, if that, and spend the rest of the time whining about being out of work.

2) You've got ONE report you're going from - and it's from the LYING AFL-CIO? Are you kidding me?! If you notice, it says the jobs lost were UNION jobs -- that only means that there are less unions in this country now, not less jobs! AND THERE ARE LESS UNIONS! Employees are realizing, more and more all the time, that their unions are screwing them, and so unions are largely on their way out! Unions are too corrupt and people are sick of bending over for them!

3) Less humane? THERE IS NOTHING MORE HUMANE THAN FREEDOM! And the TRUTH is that more blacks are richer than ever before in this country! Maybe they're realizing that government only stands in the way of their potential? Maybe?

4) Anyone who doesn't like the competition of a free market is just a big whining baby who needs the government to care for them. Like Jerry Seinfeld said, "government is like parents for adults." Capitalism works because everyone (who participates!) wins. If I have a dream and I start a company offering a product and/or service, I not only have put a product or service out there for people at a reasonable price ('cause if it's NOT reasonable, I'm generally out of business), but I've also created jobs! WIN-WIN! Of course, if big babies don't want to get off their rears, then that's not the government's problem and it's not the government's business to do something about it. What was the quote from the movie, "the Kid"? - call the waaambulance!
