Bought sofa from land of leather for cash fault with sofa they cannot exchange out of stock?

Question:
i paid cash i need cash back to buy another sofa they say they can only pay me by cheque. as i dont have a bank account this is useless to me. how do i stand regarding my consumer rights

Answer:
I'm fairly sure they have to refund you by the original method you used to make payment for your purchase i.e. cash.

Do a web search under 'Sales of Goods Act 1979', then look for the relevant section about refunds for faulty goods.
If they continue to give you aggro, it might be worth printing off what you find and showing it to them. Doubt it will come to this though.
You just need to be very firm with them and demand cash - maybe go into the store when it's busy and raise your voice significantly. Often does wonders at helping get what is yours - they don't want potential customers being put off!

Good luck. I don't think you'll have too much trouble, as Land of Leather isn't known for being a particularly dodgy company.
if you go to a town in oswestry called martins hell cash a cheque for you and charge you 4%,hope this helps
Have it padi into a friend or family members account then.. make sure you can trust them..
your entitled to cash hun if you paid by cheque or card thats a different matter stand your ground ask to speak to somebody further up and make a fuss.
We have had problems with them as a company.
Demand to them that you want cash as that was what you paid in.
Good Luck
This partially depends on if they have a posted return policy. If they have a posted policy that states no CASH refunds, you agreed to that policy when you made a purchase. That is true in any location. The location of the store is also important. Because they ARE offering a refund, you only have a case if the law in your area requires cash refunds for cash purposes. Without knowing the location, NO ONE can tell you if there is such a law.
I'm sure they can give you the cash because they have agreed to a refund.
Open a basic bank account so that in future you can accept cheques.
threaten them with trading standards or fair trading. You could also ask c.a.b to get involved. You should be given the money back how you gave it to them.
You have the right to be paid cash , as this is how you paid for the item

ask them if you could exchange the item for another
