Question:
I have an account w/ Etrade, but they keep on ripping me off every quarter for $40, due to inactivity and less than $10,000 in account. Wish I'd seen that at the start. I am considering switching to Scot Trade after seeing their details and hearing everyone rave about them. My question is.
Is there a way I can simply transfer the account from one online broker account to another, or do I have to sell my stocks on Etrade, transfer the cash to my bank account, and then buy the stocks again through Scott Trade?
Answer:
You can transfer the stocks over, but they will charge you. See Etrade charges.
Or you can sell stocks, transfer cash, then buy back.
fill out a transfer form when you open an account at Scottrade.they will transfer your stocks from the Etrade account
