How a US NRI can invest in India on a repatriable basis?

Question:
I want to find the best possible (lost cost and efficient) way to park money in India and invest it though a online or physical broker.
Any thoughts on opening a DEMAT and choosing a broker to invest in options and stocks is appreciated.

I have already enquired with ICICI for an NRI or NRE savings account, linking that to a DEMAT and choosing a broker to invest it there.
I need expert advice on tax implications as well. My initial investment would less than $ 10,000 for now.

Answer:
things have become easy and you should inverst in india but invest in biggies
