Getting stock certificates from a full Service broker?

Question:
I have some stock at a full service broker account. I would like to sell it but I am balking at the 3-5% selling fee at this broker.

Ideally I'd like to get the stock certificates from the full service broker (for free I hope) and deposit them with a discount broker. Then I could sell it thru the discount broker at a much cheaper transaction fee.

1) Does anyone know if I can just ask my full service broker (Smith Barney) to provide my stock certificates to me?

2) Does anyone know if there would be a charge for receiving the certificates from Smith Barney?

Thanks!

Stock is held in street name, meaning no certificates are ever issued.

You can transfer them wherever you like. Have your new bank or broker give you a form to sign and the account will be wired over.

There is no charge.

P.S.

This question would only be asked by someone with NO knowledge of the stock market and investments. You are going to get creamed at the discount broker. It'll cost you a lot more than Smith Barney charges.
Yes, you can have your shares certificated. I'm not certain of your brokers policy, but I've never had to pay to get my shares certificated.
