Question:
I need to learn about Bank Accounts/ Interest, what the stock exchange actually is, what borrowing against your home means... I am basically uneducated when it comes to money. I have a budget, I have a mortgage and I am very organised in my banking. I want to "mature", and learn about all the other ways to make the most of my money. Can anyone reccomend a BASIC book for me to learn from? I live in Australia.
Answer:
Suze Orman is an awesome money guru who gives all kinds of financial advice. She has books and tapes available for sale. I believe she even has a website to go and order the items.
try the "Rich Dad..." series. he gots some very good info on all those topics.
Stay away from Suze Orman - I gave up on her when I heard her say that young fresh-outs should use credit cards to pay for living expenses like gas and groceries until their income catches up - how stupid!
If you really want financial wisdom, check out Dave Ramsey's books, "Financial Peace" or "Your Total Money Makeover". Either one is an excellent place to start.
