you know it's a shame these schools don't teach the history of blacks all year round like they do whites, it just amazes me how this country's primary means of civilization or economic growth was dependent upon 2-300 years of unpaid labor and everywhere else for that matter only to be mentioned and chopped up to one page while the people who enslaved, tortured , boiled and split up families have the most dominant stance in history Black inventors or scientists can be found on about.com or even just googling will work , I'm sure you'll be amazed at the vastness of what you find. good luck and don't look at it just as Black history although it is look at it and appreciate these people for who they are and what it is that they have contributed to this country and other countries all over!

Lewis Latimer worked with Alexander Graham Bell (the inventor of the telephone) and Thomas Edison (the inventor of electric light). He supervised the installation of the electric lights in New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, and London. Mr. Latimer is famous for inventing a toilet system for railroad cars.
