What inventor.?
Question:
Answer:
As a single inventor, Thomas Edison probably had the largest impact in all three areas that you speak of.
His major invention, the light bulb, revolutionized the way business was done. Still, he had a plethora of other smaller inventions and he created, even, the first power company.
Economically: Allowing electricity to reach far distances, businesses were able to operate with lights which meant an increased amount of hours. They no longer had the need for closing at dusk, when there were no lights and people had little interest in shopping or doing business of any kind. The distribution of electricity had far-reaching powers and it allowed factories to move away from the water ways that provided power and to abandon coal burning. Due to all of this, the economy began its steady upward climb.
Socially: Revolutionary for the people who were so used to ending everything when the sun went out and the only source of light was the candle. They no longer had to go to bed when the sun went down because they could flip on a light switch and continue their work. The nightlife came about.
Cultural: A cultural dependence on electricity emerged that reflected the social and economic changes and upward mobility was facilitated, fueling a continual want for it. Reflected upon today's American "Culture".
