What is the food product? It makes quite a difference in how you promote it.
I've never heard of a student brand manager, but I will see if I can help with promotional ideas. Since it is a food product, you may wish to try:
1. free samples of the product
2. coupons for a certain amount off the price of the product
3. if it is a new product, signs around with the product name--and other signs saying "What is ___?" with the name of the product placed in the blank.
4. if it is an existing product, quick videos of people telling why they like the product, which could be placed online.
5. if it is an existing product but "improved" ask people to compare "old" and "new" versions of the product--again, make a video
6. make a video comparing your product to a competitor's product.
7. you can assure yourself of a crowd if you pass out flyers saying you will be making videos which will posted online at_____.
