Most important is to avoid "at all cost" any of the so called development companies that are out there. I've yet to find one that wasn't a rip off. They just take your money and don't provide anything more than a blind mailing to a bunch of companies if your lucky.
I know I tried four of them with a product idea I had before I gave up and went it alone. All I got from any of them was a bill so beware.
