I don't know one guy whose smarter than any chick, an i am one! Thats y the girls decide all the big decisions and the I can barly handle the small things. Like to have for dinner for example, my answer to "wats for dinner" is, hopefully u baby! Thats just the way it is.
It's not that Men are Smarter, it's just that we are more logical. We think things through better. Lets face it guys, could you cook, and look after the baby at the same time, thats even if you wanted too.
Did you know a woman created the bullet-proof vest. She was pretty smart.
if you read some about history, women never had chance to improve themselves.may be we should ask this question to traditions.
You just don't hear about the smart women.
Coz society encourages that and not nature. I read an early nineteeth century journal it reads "Giving girls' boys' education will produce flat chested women unable to suckle thier babies" Think about the contributions women like Marie Currie has offered to mankind.
ur self...
just because more men are famous for being geniuses that doesnt mean there were not women out there that were smarter. a child learns a lot from their mom or person acting as a mom. why do you think men are smarter though? Women are very smart, i know more smart women than men
amelian earhart(or how you spell it) Betty Ross.
Well, one reason why there aren't as many women who have made their mark in the intellectual sphere is because, until recently, most women didn't have the same educational opportunities as men. And when a few women did manage to become well-educated, they usually didn't have the opportunity to shine, because their efforts to do so were suppressed by men.

By the way, it looks like spelling isn't your forte. In case you didn't notice, there is a spell check. If you had bothered to use it, you would have noticed that the correct spelling is "philosopher". Also, I'm assuming that the people you were referring to were BEETHOVEN, MICHELANGELO (one word, not two), VAN GOGH, Stephen HAWKING, and SHAKESPEARE.
A very nice and to the point answer by SAM.

I may further add-- give them a chance to prove their intellect and get the results yourself. You must not forget that there is a always a woman behind the success of a man, may be in whatever capacity, as a mother, sister, wife, friend or even a foe.
Madame Curie; Einstein's first wife; Hypatia, on and on. I am about as male as one can get, too! Wake up out there! If you don't know what you are talking about, shut up, set down and breathe quietly!
Read your history "daft lad" (I understand where the DAFT is coming from). Practically every culture did/does keep women down. A woman was part of her "protectors goods and chattels" in the West until relatively recently. She was treated as a draft animal and considered too delicate/stupid/emontional/... to excercise her intellect. Things are changing. In the US boys are falling behind girls in intelectual pursuits (you should read a newspaper every once-in-a-while, and also learn to spell a few names correctly); boys are becoming lazier, dumber... (and by the way, I'm a guy, not a rabid femininist).
Your right your smarter.you win. Now go back and keep wipping skippy. Because of all the things those great men have done.not one of them has made the one thing that I have that you don't.and that most men want. Well maybe not you.I think you might like your fellow hard tails.
Marie Curie Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry and Physics.

Marilyn Van Savant -Genius IQ
Hildegard of Bingen -Mathematician
Mara Agnesi winner -Mathematician
Sophie Germaine -Mathematician
Sonya Kowalevska -Mathematician
Emmy Noether -Mathematician
Rosalyn Franklin-DNA-contributer of the discovery of the structure of the DNA by x-ray diffraction
Obviously this is not going to be the answer that you're hoping for, ie. the one that commends you for making such an astute observation and congratulating you on being a genius bigot. Well, I just feel obliged to point out that there have actually been some pretty famous and important women in history.

Just off the top of my head and with help from previous answerers:

Marie Curie
Amelia Earhart
Mother Teresa
Florence Nightingale
Joan Of Arc
Jane Austen
Emily Dickinson
Jane Austen
Cleopatra etc.

And in addition as Sam points out, all our mums (yes, yours too).

I'm sure the others could think of more.
Van Goff (sp) cut his ear off - what's so smart about that?
