In the UK there have been many successful processes or engines designed that either run on less expensive or alternative fuels, and in some cases, designs have been submitted that will allow the augmentation of petrol/gasoline with common water.
The usual outcome is that the oil companies buy up the patents instantly making one or two people very rich while the rest of us carry on using the less ecologically friendly fuels.
As somebody previously pointed out - if you stop using oil, the whole global financial situation would become dire indeed.
My friend says that if someone invented a car that did not use gas or diesel fuel in the next few weeks, it would plunge our country into the deepest darkest depression the world has ever known. When it gets to the point where you can not breath air without a gas mask,they will come up with a solution and not before. And, the solution will not be ethanol because we don't have enough land mass to support the amount of corn need to run all the cars in this country and besides it would be tremendously expensive.
Hydrogen is the answer and all the big boys know it. The technology is already there.
For myself, I appreciate your efforts. I also am hopeful that a movement to give up driving and buying gas one day a week (Sunday) will take off.
