Does anyone know how I can make my idea for a product into a reality? What about a patent?

I think it depends on the product. If you wanted to talk to people who Rep similar products or products in the same field as yours, you could get a lawyer to draw up a simple one or two page document that the Rep would sign agreeing to view the product and discuss what could be done with it, but agreeing to not infringe upon your rights regarding the product etc. You can look into manufacurers who would make a prototype and then talk to people in the field about possible changes, materials, making it work. I would think that finding a place that simply manufacturers and for a number of different products/brands, they would only manufacturer and not copy designs etc. There has to be a way - why not work on a name & logo or name & design, there are ways you can trademark your product doing it yourself for not much money. Patents take years anyhow! And if it really takes off there will always be knock offs anyhow, I have never done this before but am answering based on knowlege from working in business that relies on original designs and manufacture. Hope this helps! Remember that someone who is a reputable Rep known in the field would always successfully sell your product before you! They always have contacts they can leverage from that take an immense amount of time to build up.
