Why are white organizations labeled racist.?
Question:
There is the National Assoc for the Advancement of Colored People. NAACP If there was a NAAWP that would be racist.
There are college funds that are set up to give scholarships to only black people. I don't disagree with this, this is actually a good thing but if there was a scholarship set up and openly said we are only giving scholarships to white people, it would be racist. I'm sure there are scholarships like that now, and they are considered racist.
In school there is the Black Student Union. If there was a White Student Union that would be racist.
Why is that?
Answer:
Because all of those other organizations have the purpose of promoting that group, to make up for them being disadvantaged in our society.
If you have a white version, that means you're trying to reinforce the already-existing power of the group currently in control - whites. You can only do that at the expense of a group who is already disadvantaged - blacks. Thus it's racist.
I agree , there is a double standard! its not considered to be racist when they have organizations like that because they are a minority.they are set up so they have just as good a chance as white do , but really i think they shouldnt just have things handed to them..
Yes, this is true and undeniable. Society considers it racist for 'whites' to confront 'blacks', and NOT vice versa.
Even though we might not be racist and I do agree with the idea that racism is nonsense, it is peculiar how weird racism problems have twisted out, where whites are approached it they display racism, and blacks are ignored to a good extent...
I totally agree with you. we are living in such a hypocritical society it's not even funny.OK if a White person were to crack a black joke, every one would label him a racist. But if someone else (meaning a Non-white person) cracked the same joke it'd be no biggie. Now i am not a racist or anything, BUT we have to point out flaws wherever there are. And black community is full of them. Where should i get started the N-word, the cursing, their hip hopish culture (yeah rappers rising to fame based on the fact that they are shot 9 times... what role models), they lack manners. yeah this might sound like i am a racist but belive you me this is true. Where i come from, 99 perecent people are Black and all of this is true. I am not saying that EVERY BLACK person is like that, but it doesnot take a genius to put 2 and 2 together. We should fix the problems in our society and someone needs to speak out... every time someone says something Blacks play the race card. Barry bonds primary exampple. " o its cuz we are black" i am so sick and tired of hearing that and i am sure every one else is too. Someone needs to take the initiative and tell our African American brothers and sisters that what they are doing is wrong and no it's not cuz they are black... idc what color you are if you are doing something that is wrong, then guess what it is wrong. it's as simple as that.
Why are white organizations labeled racist? Because, in the long run white's are being anihilated from this world. I'm not a
KKK member, and I'm not an extremist. I'm just sick and tired of being told white people are racist. In total, there are more of other races than white filling up the earth. Whites are a very small minority. They are being wiped out and made to feel ashamed for being caucasians.
I completely agree! i think the answer is because the fact that african american families have a history of being enslaved and because of the civil rights ordeal and some are eager to label a whole new generation that had nothing to do with slavery racist. and the fact that society as a whole is so afraid of the racism issue that if just a couple a blacks gets offended by something and report it to the television it is reported as "bad" sure there are a few people here and there who are just ignorant racist but why should there( african amercian) kids get a scholarship fund set up to help out there kids. and i don't get the same thing for my kids cause there white. that's raciscim. 21st century still cause now the african american kids are getting more education and more of a chance to succede.I get offended when certain people of the same up bringing are given a better chance of makeing it big because of there skin color and certain organizations and groups which offer them benifits because of there skin color
Stop being deluded with terminology. Be a hippie - wait a minute, that's a terminology too, there aren't any, but they say there are and were on TV. Everybody has an opinion and every one has a way of life about them. From Archy Bunker to Good Times we are salt and peppered by presentations of interpretations of inspirations of what some nameless faceless free thinking expressive individual has to offer up for our consideration in collective thought. It's contemporary. At one point in time we had black folks in chains, at another point we had white folks in gas chambers. But that's not entirely true is it? There were all races and colors in those situations throughout the world at various times. If you are hungry do you care who splats the beans on your food tray in the long line of disadvantaged hungry people and would you even care who is in front or behind you in that line? I suggest to you a study of the red scare in the 50's, when government had Hollywood under the magnifying glass. Be who you are and be better for it.
That is a very intelligent question.
Socially speaking, historically People of Color have been either been enslaved, discrimanated against, not been given the same advantages, or have been systematically and instutionally held back due to color.
The organizations that you have mentioned that are set up by Black Americans were put in place to try and even the "playing field" of what was a purposely enforced unfair opportunities in life.
The Black student Union is to protect the interests of an underrepresented student in certain educational settings.
Coming from a mixed heritage myself, I asked the same questions myself because I didn't understand the disadvantages that black people went through in society.
Unfortunately growing up in a predominately white area I learned the hardway that it wouldn't be easy. I can't tell you the numerous times I was called the "n" word or people didn't want me around their children or they thought that I was stupid and that I wouldn't amount to anything. Hearing that for any child is traumatizing enough but having it said to me because of something that I couldn't control was even worse.
Society in itself is geared to believe that white is better. White is good, black is bad or evil.

Good Luck!
In the past, measures like this were used to enforce fair treatment. In current day, they are just giving non white people extra privileges. It's a double standard that itself is racist. Just too many idiots out there with closed minds. And it's not like those who are getting these extra privileges are going to complain about it.
while i very much agree with how backwards this all seems, one must realize that whites and blacks are still not treated equally as they should be, and it is hard to break that cycle, i think a lot of black people in America today feel unmotivated and helpless because of the way that society secretly snubs their nose at a lot of young black Americans. and if anyone has ever been to a ghetto its almost always black people living there. why? often times its because they feel like they cant get out of the cycle that they have been in for so long because of racism in America. can we blame the black community for having the NAACP and other such orgs? the NAACP formed back when race issues were HUGE in the US. and until colored ppl have advanced as far as they can, then it will still be a relevant cause. the NAACP is there so they can show their people how to break out of the cycle and rise in the social standings, its showing colored people that even if they cant afford school, they can get a special scholarship just for them. its kind of like a catching up program in a way (if i can say that without offending anyone) if the white man were to have such an org, then it would be a very unfair fight since we dont need anymore social advancement.
For the reasons people already mentioned, which create a double standard. Whites should be able to form white oriented groups as long as there is no lynching or sieg-heiling stuff involved.
The other reason is that whites really tend to like themselves. Members of other groups don't really like themselves; they wish they were white. So they have to create these groups to feign interest in their own kind when they really wish they were something else. Whites don't have these feelings so there is not the same desire to form these groups. They are not chasing anyone.
That's because black people have been mistreated for like more than 300 years. Racism has been through them and it made life difficult for them. Now that that has changed for less than 44 years. They feel more home in this country. I agree with you, some are racists and don't realize it. If someone is saying that, don't listen to them. If they say that white clubs are racist then do the same thing say that black clubs are racist. I'm not racist but it's prejudice for someone to say that. The problem is that white people stay quiet all the time and don't defend eachother. We need to tell them that if you don't talk about that then they shouldn't. Don't be shy to say that. If they tell you racist then you tell them the same. If you're afraid of losing all your friends, screw them. If they don't understand you then they're fake friends. Just that black people are getting to get comfortable with this country.
Well, the term "racist" can be used incorrectly.
A scholarship for only white people would be discriminative but it might not be racist.
Your example of the black student union should be looked at differently. Does the black student union forbid whites? I will assume it does not.
The term racist implies a feeling of being superior or another race being inferior.
So discriminating seems to be a more accurate term here. Once you define something as discrimination then you have two "parties"; one who is in power and one who is not. I think this is the logic behind minorities being able to play by what appears to be a different set of rules.
Maybe the easiest answer is the majority of scholarships, facilities, organizations are already very available (if not aimed) at whites. So it is acceptable for these groups to bind together to improve themselves.
I'm not saying that strategy is wise but I don't see it as harmful. I wonder if we were to travel to Africa if there wouldn't be clubs there where only whites gathered. By clubs I mean organizations...not bars.
It is double standard for sure. It will be interstng to see what happens in the future as races are starting to fade into each other.
you are preaching to the choir on this one - i've been saying this for years.......
if you really care about this then you are a racist
racism is a tool to incapasinate the caucasion race the constitution dedecates America as one nation under God. God cannot be manipulated. as long as this standard exist the new world order cannot emerge.the only solution is to marganilize the whites. everyone else can be bought, whites will stand on principal no matter the cost.this is a concept that is hard to grasp.life liberty and the pursuit of happyness as a way of life
When the majority of whites make less money, have little political representation, have less education, have less jobs, and have poorer housing than other races; and when other races have the majority of wealthy, privileged people, have more opportunities in politics, business, and education, then yes, we'll need to have white groups that help whites get their act together.
Until then, you're just another white guy who thinks that striving for equality is the same as having "special rights".
Special privileges are what whites have, kiddo. Even though you say racism is all over and done with, and we are all one big happy family now, why is the Klan still marching in my downtown? And they're the ones who are willing to be open about their racism. The quieter racist's are the ones who talk about how non-whites have all these "special rights", "special privileges", "affirmative action", "separate black groups", and "special scholarships" that they are getting. There obviously is not equality among the races in America; yet look at how many white people say they're tired of the "special rights" that blacks have. I don't see special rights. I still see a lot of white guys running the House, Senate, Presidency, Supreme Court, Big Business, Educational Institutions, and government agencies. I know you think this is a serious question, but personally I find it just as offensive as someone promoting the KKK, since obviously, so many people agree with this "kinder, gentler" version of racism.
The real question should be why the "Black Student Union" is not considered racist, because it is.
What I can't figure out is why so many people will say something like, "you should not treat me different because I'm XXX", but then turn around and say "I'm a XXX American and proud of it".
To me you are either an American or not. When you put something in front of it you are just trying to separate yourself in the exact same manner as the racist want to split us up too.
Why do you care about this? What should this matter to you as a white person who advances in society not only due to your "hard work" but white priviledge as well? You obviously know nothing about black history hence why you even asked this stupid question. And who are the ones you claim scream that any organization whites make only for whites is racist? If anything the ones you complain about would say it is stupidity at its best. What exactly does a white person need that they do not already have? This stolen land you and I both call america was not built so everyone could live equally, it was built to ensure that the white man and woman were given a higher chance at acheiving anything they wanted. Have you never heard of slavery, jim crow laws, white after dark towns down south, or the fact that it was slaves not whites who made america what it is today? America's system constructed by whites was put in place to protect its white man and woman from any danger that may be brought forth their way. Do you not realize our black ancestors were the ones who were beaten, raped, abused, sold like animals to the highest bidder, refused the right to read and write or attend school, and stipped of everything that made them unique ( their african culture and tongue)? You ask this question because you still believe whites are entitled to something they already have. Think about this, if the majority of americans are whites then who holds the power? Not minorities, but white people. Black people do not own the majority of the businesses in America, nor is there any history taught about us in schools. We get only one month to learn about black history, and yet we get all year round to learn about whites history. How they were such peaceful creatures who never did wrong, except when they went to war and even then they were seen as powerful. NAACP was put in place to acknowledge and seek justice for any wrong doing done to blacks by whites back then and that purpose still stands today. I remember Emitt Till and how he was beaten by a group of white men for whistling at a white woman, and they left his body to float in a lake. When his body was found his face was disfigured his own mother could not recognize him. His funeral was that of a closed casket due to the damage. I remember about the church bombing in which four beautiful black babies were killed in that bombing, all due to a racist white man who couldn't get over the fact that not everyone was created to be white. I remember the black man in texas who after getting a bit intoxicated with his boss, was beaten by his boss, chained to his boss's truck, and then dragged for miles until nothing remained of him. His boss was a white man. I remember a group of black boys wrongfully accussed by two white women of rape, and spent the majority of their lives in jail down south. Some were freed and others were not. I remember just recently in london a white man hit a sixteen year old black boy in the head with an axe, just because he was black. I remember just a few weeks ago here in st. louis, a group of racist whites held a rally in a park I used to live by shouting how they needed to get rid of the illegals and ******* in their neighborhoods. I remember how it was whites who forced blacks to live in neighborhoods with little to no resources, all because they didn't want ******* in their neighborhoods and it's still like that today in some cases. Now these same whites want to complain about the acts of black people today. Granted black people are not perfect and do contribute to a lot of things wrong with us as a whole, but that does not mean whites do not have an active role in that destruction either.
While you continually complain and ask stupid questions about why these organizations exist, there are others like you who know why they exist and also understand the dynamic role race and class plays in america. As I have stated, it would not be racist for whites to have any type or organization it would just be moronic. Those things you complain about were established way before my time here on this earth. And they were needed due to ugly past history between whites and blacks. I have no problem with whites wanting to feel proud of who they are, but do not get angry when blacks want to do the same with their own kind. Every organization and group will not be there to include whites. Now that I think about it, this questions seems more like a cry out of not being accepted into anything that really has nothing to do with you or anyone like you. This also tells me that you need to constantly know what black people are doing so you feel somehow informed and included. I would ask why there is such a thing as a glass ceiling in the work place pertaining to minorities, or why there is such a thing as institutionalized racism enforced by racist whites but I already know the answer. How about you do research before asking people questions of which answers already exist? It is not that difficult and google plus the library are always there if you need them.
If you really want to open your eyes, then study america's past. Study how capitalism, class, and race all coincide with one another and contribute to a majority of the problems we as people, human beings see. You may just learn something.
Another thing, why should we just call ourselves americans? To call myself an american would also mean to call myself a thief. It would also mean not acknowledging that which makes me unique (my blackness and black culture). I refuse to do so. I am not african-american. I am just black. To ignore cultural differences is ignorance, because those differences should be recognized. What should not be recognized is that one human is more superior than another human, which is why for example white superiority is a flawed concept. A flawed human being is no more perfect or better than the next flawed individual. Besides false humility and believing we are the world while screaming we are all americans will get us nowhere. It will only set us back in time like we are already doing. You want to see racism and race relation problems end we as "americans" need open honest dialogue.
