How do I pay for college, bills, insurance, rent etc?!?

Question:
So... im all grown up now and have grown up bills, rent, ins., etc... I am working hard to balance college and working full time. I will be entering Nursing school soon and cannot work full time. How can I pay for this?? I imagine that I can obtain a loan for some or all of this but how do I tell creditors that I am waiting to get my student loan money back? Im assuming that money would go to the school first then I would have to wait a certain amount of time. Sounds like gambling to me.. Has anyone done this?

Answer:
Here's how I did it. I had two types of loans in college. One was a "signature loan" for my tuition, room and board, etc. The other type was a "private loan" which I was allowed to use at my discretion (food, books, and later down the line, rent.). I had to get my parents to cosign on the loans because I didn't have any credit history, and you might have to do that too. Of course you have to pay the loans back, but there is a grace period following your graduation before you have to start paying them back.

I know working full time and going to school is difficult. I did it too. But if you know that you aren't going to be able to work full time, now is the time to start saving and learning how to make a budget and all that fun stuff. Even if you can only save $20 from each check, at least that's something. I would also suggest doing a lot of research and finding the job that you have the time for that will pay you the most. For example, working in an office part time, or being a bartender. Not that I'm advocating bars, but they can make a lot of money. Many bartenders are college students.

I have found that most things you do during or following college are a little bit of a gamble. But hey, don't worry. It will work out. Eat ramen noodles and sit on inflatable furniture for a couple of years. You'll get through it and laugh about it someday when you're a registered nurse. ;)

Best of luck.
Yup. You have to decrease your bills that aren't college related. Make sure you can meet your rent and utilities off what you make part time - even if it means living in a dive. It's not forever, and landlords and utilities don't care if you have money coming in later. They want it now.

As far as food and transport go - many a college student has lived off of ramen noodles, including me. Your car won't get repo'd for the first missed payment either. You just learn to juggle it all.
