Daughter off to college does she get the child support?
Question:
Answer:
If she is over 18 then you stop paying support for her and continue to pay support for your son who is a minor. Child support is paid to the custodial parent, not to the children.
If you would like to help pay for college your funds will NOT be turned down. Pay the school for her tuition/books. Get a receipt.
If you are currently under a court order to make the payments directly to your ex-wife, then you must continue to do that until you have another court order that says otherwise.
If it doesnt state it in the divorce decree you should work it out with the mother.
that all depends on what was agreed upon in your divorce settlement.
I would say to give the money directly to you daughter now that she's living away from home. That way, you'll know for sure that the money is going directly to your daughter and not for your ex-wife's spa treatments.
If she is over 18 go to court and have the agreement ammended then you can give her money directly. You have to do this for each child when they turn 18.
