No college degree but years of experience as Controller. Help??
Question:
Answer:
Hi there. this actually differs from company to company and the rules are normally set by the owner or the board when it comes to higher up positions. i used to own a company of 135 employees and my rule was that education is great but if there is no experience then I wasnt paying much attention ina visa versa it was alo if one had lots of experience and less education then i would pay that persons resume some attention. Like I said it depends from one comapany to company. References also help and the references from the actual owners and or a board member or the company carries more weight then from a friend, associate and or the plant manager etc. The job and considering you for the position also differes depending what kind of company you are applying for the position at. A manufactureing plant say, manufacturing parts will be easy to sell yourself to then a assembly of a hi tec firm. The only way to find ouyt is NEVER CALL OR VISIT to find out. Feel confident and apply and there is no harm in applying and being turned down. If they feel that you qualify and are confident of yorself that sometimes is the biggest selling point from your side. i say go ahead and apply. remember that getting a interview is a learning experience but always prepare your self in speech, attire, way you shake hands, how you present yourself etc. etc. Good luck and hope this helps. Need more pointers feel free to email and I will be happy to help. Good luck and god bless.
ok then maybe this is the right job or second income

Unfortunately so. Many companies require degrees unless you know someone in the company and is willing to recommend you to the job. The reason stated is that experience in one industry only exposes you to that environment rather than a general environment. Many people with experience tend to stick to one industry because they are familiar with the rules and regulations of that industry.
Try a privately held company for a similar position.
At a publicly held company, you would be a clerk since you don't have a degree.
Why don't you enroll in a community college in some accounting courses and be able to say that you are working towards a degree? Showing some gumption might impress a prospective employer. I don't think you could have been a real controller without a college degree anyway. When you get on in an accounting department, a good employer would offer tuition reimbursement and you could earn your degree on their nickel. Instead of whining, go do something for yourself.
YOU CAN DO THIS :be self employ, work to make yourself rich, not someone else,i work with a great company they help homeowners pull tens of thousands of dollars of interest savings out of their mortgage through a carefully controllled biweekly prepayment system(by dividing their monthly payment by 2). their services is so popular, they're saving homeowners BILLIONS of dollars! this is NOT something that homeowners can easily do on their own due to many hidden pitfalls. homeowners pay you about $395 to sign up. 2 simple forms. NO refinancing is involved. you enroll the client. the company do evrything else. and YOU CAN POCKET 100% COMMISSIONS! call 1800-365-7550 ext 61583 and get free info, that will explain it in more details, or e-mail me at astride9@aol.com
