Whats college like?

Question:
I know i shouldnt worry that much since its only 4 years away, but i cant help it. Im terrified. Like in sixth grade, i was okay with it, i guess because it seemed so far away, but now im confused, scared, and worried.

my parents randomly said that theyre not going to pay for it because they dont think that i will make it through atleast four years. so that makes me worried, because they are wealthy, and i should pay for it and all, but im worried what if i cant support myself, and what if they dont support me. im scared becase i can be such a ditz and like really outgoing and some people dont like that, and i have an attitude of if you dont like me, thats fine. im confused because i dont really understand college and how it works. please help.

Answer:
I advise you to do well in high school. Make sure you get good grades so it A) Shows your parents that you are serious B) Gives eligibility for scholarships in case your parents refuse to pay.

Getting involved in school activities or sports will also help getting admitted to college. You can even start earning money from scholarships in high school. Keep the links below handy just in case. And don't wait until the last minute to get a plan going. If your parents still refuse to pay, you have to rely on scholarships so you won't be as much in debt.

College is way better than high school, you don't want to miss out.
You don't need a college degreee to work at the local strip joint. Good luck!
Crazy time. Just make sure you study. One more year and im done, can't wait
party,party, more party.
There's no need to worry about it now. But college is important to earning high-salary jobs. So I would prove to your parents that you can handle college by getting good grades in hiard classes while you are at high school. Then maybe they will pay.
First of all, you are worrying too soon. Don't freak out. Secondly, if your parents are wealthy, they will be expected to pay for your college. Even if you apply for federal student financial aid, you won't be able to get any money because of what your parents make. They are probably just trying to scare you into doing well in high school. Don't worry about being a ditz, I know a lot of people who are ditzy who do well in college. Just conentrate on high school, study for your classes, make good grades, and once you've proven yourself I'm sure your parents will be happy to help you.
That's sad that your parents don't believe in you, hun. I'm sorry.

Do your best in high school and show them that you're smart and you're capable, and maybe they'll reconsider.

College is awesome, but you need to be disciplined, because there will always be things going on and there will always be something to distract you from your work -- a party, a campus-wide event, etc. There's time for that, but you have to manage your time well. Also, it's a lot less busy-work (like worksheets and things you do in high school/middle school) and more readings, papers, and discussions. That might sound intimidating now, but in high school you will work your way up towards more and more work, so by college you'll be generally prepared.

Seriously though, don't worry about it yet. Start thinking about it junior year. For now, just prove to your parents that you're a good student. :)
College is very laid back, unlike high school. Truth is, high school is like a babysitting service, whereas in college, the professors don't care if you show up to class or do your assignments. They just assume you are an adult now and should take responsibility into your own hands.

In fact, college is considered some of your funnest years in life. So have fun, but not TOO much fun!
College is just a bunch of self righteous affirmative action idiots.
