Is joining sports really necessary to get a scholarship?
Question:
Answer:
you can get a scholarship many ways. go to your career center at school and find out. you can get one for helping out, community service, doing something out of the ordinary (good of course). Of course it is best if you did take sports or part of a club, but those arent the only way to get a scholarship. Just be a well rounded student, and if possible join a club or two, if possible.
You need to be a well rounded student and demonstrate that the admissions officers.
Any sort of extra would help it doesn't have to be sports it can be yearbook, chior, band, drama, ect.

i don't think sports will get youa scholarship for college. last i heard is you need to get a & a plus to earn a scholarship... good luck!
That's a bunch of bs. It makes no sense why joining sports would get you a scholarship bc in the long run, when you're 45, are you still going to enjoy playing soccer?? I don't think so.
My advice to you is either try to get on based on academics, or in some schools you can tutor to get a scholarship, OR learn an instrument and apply for a college band. That get's you a scholarship as well, and if you learn to play an instrument, it could be something that you can enjoy for the rest of your life.
Good luck!
No, you don't need to participate in sports. Sometimes scholarships are awarded based on need. Sometimes they are awarded based on merit, and a 3.8 would qualify for merit at many schools. Sometimes there are scholarships for people who meet specific qualifications (e.g. women who want to pursue a career in math and are from Tennessee). Some scholarships go unawarded because no one ever qualifies or applies for them. Talk to the financial aid officer at the school you're interested in attending.
