Avoid student loans if at all possible! Debt sucks! Financial aid is the best way to go if you can get approved. also scholarships if you can get em. Get a good job, then find ways to make your money work for you! Safe investments, that kind of thing.

Getting the tuition from the college is the best way (scholarships).
My 2 nephews both were able to get that and they were given part time jobs through the school to be able to take care of their other expenses as well.
Check which colleges are vying the hardest for students. There is a lot of competition between the schools presently!

If you're an undergrad, you're probably eligible for Pell Grants, which do not have to be repaid, to cover books and tuition. If you must, there are several types of loans available, but, if you do borrow, borrow only what you absolutely must have. Pay back's a bit@ch. Talk to the financial aid people at the college you looking at, they're very helpful.

My wife and I paid for our daughter's first four years. She said that she wanted to do the next four on her own. The financial officer at the U of Pa. arranged for her to borrow enough for four years. She was given ten years to repay the entire loan, including interest. When she got her VMD degree she began making double payments on the loans that had the highest interest. In less than eight years she was in the clear.
So, if I were you I'd go to the finance office and arrange for the loans necessary. Not all of the money comes from one loan, pay the high interest ones off first. Be very frugal with your money until you have it all paid back, after that the world is yours.
