Would you be there? For a condemned man. Well worth the read.?

Question:
Imagine you have a son, you put alot of effort into your son, teaching him, guiding him, and he is a straight "A" student. He gets a scholarship and goes off to college. One day you are watching the news, when a bulletin flashes that a student has killed 8 students and injured others. You find out that your son did the killings. You go to visit your son, and he tells you "I am not sorry for what I did, and the greatest shame in my life is having you for a parent." Your letters and visits are refused for years. One morning at 3AM you get a phone call
"Mom, Dad, they are going to execute me at 1 am tomorrow morning and they say I can have one person there, will you come?" And he hangs up. Will you be there? He did not say he was sorry.
Why will you be there? Because he is your child. It is the height of human arrogance to believe we can love more than God. God will never forsake his children in spite of their failures. Right or wrong?

Answer:
wow, that's a difficult one. I imagine I would
The call itself could easily be interpreted as the apology of a repentant soul.
You should have said the parents hear about the execution on the news.
It is not about whether the parents will be there as you seem to think. Parents continue to love, just like God continues to love. But does this mean the parents can change the disobedient and unwillingness of the boy to love them back no. One makes a choice to love God back. One makes a choice whether to recieve God's love. God loves each and every person He creates, but when they willfully choose to not to listen or hear him or to have fellowship with Him, He does cut them off. We make the choice, God love was there all the time. God does not force us to choose him, we choose him because we love Him back and desire fellowship that is freely offered throught he forgiveness of sin.
WOW!

Well I am going to answer this best I can, without changing anything I hope.
I do have a son who made straight A's and he did real well until he ran with the wrong crowd. He is in jail now and has done 5 years in prison. I was crushed when I found out.Even when he got out he went right back to doing drugs. He left home and I didn't know where he was for 3 1/2 years. He even knows the Lord and now he serves Him in JAIL. I was told he may do 10-20 yrs.
I thank God he is not like the one you described. It would crush my hearteven more than mine is now. I believe I wouldn't live long enough to see Him executed. I would be too heart broken. Not for just him bu t those who was killed and the families. I think something like that would kill me. I don't know and I sure don't want to find out.
There was time when my son didn't want to see me or talk to me and I found out it was because he was ashamed, angry. Now He just wishes God will use Him or take him home.
I would want to see my son before the execution, but to watch him be executed I could not do that.
I have 3 sons the one in jail is not in for murder though. If my son did not want to receive Jesus I am sure I would be totally upset, however I know when I do get to heaven the Bible said every tear would be wiped away. So I will receive my peace there if not here.
I hope that answered your question. I don't want to answer that kind again It makes me so sad.
