Am I the only person who doesn't want to go to college?
Question:
Answer:
DON'T GO TO COLLEGE. You know what you want to do. Go do it. You can always go back to college afterwards if you decide being a flight attendant isn't what you want.
Some people just aren't meant for college. Nothing wrong with tech or vocational schools. For whatever reason, there's just a large generation who thinks college is the ticket to wealth. College is just a means of getting wealth. It doesn't ensure it. But it involves certain sacrifices. There are other ways to go.
I strongly disagree with that BS about finding yourself in college. If you really don't know what you want to do in life, than sure. However, if you've already got a goal, you're just wasting time. Most kids see MTV and it's spring break shows and other stuff and imagine that's a good reason to go to college. To party, find yourself, etc. MTV displays fun, but fun doesn't get you anywhere in life. The real world sucks. It's just too easy to see college as a place to "find yourself." If you're at that point, you're behind the game. Then, you're just using college as an excuse to put off growing up. If you can afford to do that, great. However, most kids really can't afford that.
My wife and I went to college, but we knew back in jr high it was just a means to an end. We both knew we had to go to grad school, and then we'd have a good foundation for success.
My wife's brother wasn't a school person. He didn't want to go to college. So, he went to mechanic's school. Now, he makes about as much as we do, and we have fancy doctorates.
i dont wana go either ha but i got a long way yet
If you aren't motivated enough to spend over $100,000 for a college education you don't feel you need... then save the money and apply for a job with your nearest airline.
I know times have changed, and I am 67 years old, so that gives me a bit more age than you have. SO... I'm going to share the best piece of advice I ever got from an adult and it has made my life much easier than I could have ever imagined.
That advice was simply to FIRST get a TRADE and then get a PROFESSION. Although I have a Masters in Engineering, I have had to fall back on my TRADE on more than one occasion because there were jobs in my trade (Electronics) and no jobs in my Profession.
A good question but understand that going to college is more than just training to get a job. It can help you develop as a person, learn more about the world, meet new people, better prepare you for life and other opportunities. What do you want to be doing when you are 40? Still serving people on an airplane? I think you might be tired of doing the same thing for that long and with no education and no other experience your options might be limited. Going to college helps give you a few more options and hopefully gives you a little more control of your life. Good luck.
