Because Miss America WAS a ALL white woman from 1921 - the early 70's, then the 1st Black woman to win it, was Vanessa Williams in 1983... that's why it isn't OK. We have some making up to do.

1. Vanessa Williams made the decisions that ended her Miss America reign BEFORE she became Miss America. And, there have been DOZENS of other contestants who were also booted out because of similar transgressions.
2. College admittance/financial aid procedures are so slanted that it is absolutely necessary to have organizations that focus on minority scholarships. There are also scholarships specifically for left-handed people, for people who want to be farmers, for military kids, for albino people... and the list goes on and on.
3. Schools teach "Anglo history" the other 11 months of the year. Black History Month is the shortest month of the year. Judging by the amount of backwards racists in this country, we might want to consider taking over another month as well.
