I am a high school student in arizona and after I graduate I want to move out of arizona and never come back. I'm sick of the heat and I was born on the east coast. I do want to go to college but I know I am going to have a hard time getting any scholarships or grants. also I want to move somewhere where theres a good transportation system and its a college town. any recommendations.
Answer:
Radford university
West Virgina University or Pitt (main campus) There is a TON to do in Pittsburgh, had the college atmosphere and a city around it!
It's easier to recommend a school if you can also tell us what you're interested in studying. Some schools are better than others for certain subject matter.
New York and Atlanta are two east coast cities that have public transportation and tons of schools to choose froms. I'm from atlanta an i can tell you that you won't really get away form the heat but there are tons of schools so whether you're going for a public college, a technical insitute, a liberal arts school, whatever you'll find one in atlanta. Public transportation is good inside the city but doesn't get you very far into the subarbs. good luck
Why don't you head on up to Colorado. It's not too far away from where you are and there very good schools and opportunities.
University of Wisconsin Madison- great party school and good transportation system.
GO BADGERS!!!
University of South Florida I know you've heard of BULLS COUNTRY! lol its awesome look it up!
Good transportation and a college town? Check out Boston. It's a beautiful city with an amazing college atmosphere. And the T (subway) will take you to downtown, Cambridge and most places. It may be a bit expensive though, but I'm sure that if you put your mind to it you can make it there. Find a college that suits your personality and interests and/or try to apply for scholarships that target students with your background.
OU, or OCCC, or In Texas, Texas State University!
university of Maine, you would love it there
New York is a great place to go to college. And the subway is conveninent everywhere you go.
I go to college in Boston. It's another great place for school and it has the T [subway] that takes you various places as well.
Both New York & Boston have that great college atmosphere.
Gardner-Webb University is a great school in the small college town of Boiling Springs, NC which is located in Shelby, NC. North Carolina has a great climate as well.
Los Angeles City College
the bus pass for the semester is only $30.00 ... if you are a full time estudent ..
Boston, where I'm from, is a really good place for college, and it's an easy transportation place. I'm looking at Bridgewater State, which is right outside of Boston and it's got amazing programs.
Let me know how it works out. I live on the east coast, right near Boston, so the college decision is easier for me.
RIT- Rochester NY
You are not going to like my answer but it is realistic. If you are going to have a hard time getting grants or scholarships you are probably not going very far. Out of state tuition is very high at most schools so you may not be able to leave the state. Another option would be to move somewhere and work for a year to establish residency in another state before going to college. At that point it may be easier to get grants because you may be able to show that you are on your own with no support from your family.
Internationally renowned for research and education, the University of Michigan offers a wide variety of degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Students experience the "Michigan Difference" and our strong tradition of excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the community.
Outstanding and innovative academic offerings combine with a diverse campus community, the best faculty, and a central location in beautiful Ann Arbor to make it one of the nation's most desirable universities.
baby if transportation is what you want then Chicago is the place you need. like there is a university in Bourbonnais called Olivet Nazarene University and that is where I plan to go. But there is also JJC or Joliet Junior college and then Kendal which is for business and culinary arts. so it all depends.
Brigham Young University, Provo Utah. Yes, fantastic college town. Safe, clean and good place to live. Further, the college has a reputation for grants and scholarships like crazy. Usually they go to the out of state students.
Its a wonderful place and you would probably meet your wife there too!!!

Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. You are near a train station, buses, can easily go to places like NYC or Philadelphia, and it is a large public university so not as $$$ as other colleges. Plus it's a lot of fun!
well first of all, tuition doubles for you because you would be considered for out-of-state tuition, you can still get scholarships, you just have to look for them more closely, besides there are special scholarships available based on your ethnicity and there are merit scholarships available too, just make sure you do good on your SATs and on the ACT your scores will help improve your chances for admission and scholarships, also provide a resume just to let the university know what you have done so far in your 4 years in high school, Texas school are great, you should consider the UNiversity of Texas at Austin, it is located in the middle of Austin, blocks away from stores, restaurants, and other attractions, great transportation, and there is alot to do in that city, you can also consider the University of Texas-San Antonio, it is rich in hispanic culture and there is tons of diversity, I can give you tons of information, contact me and I'll be pleased to help you out :]
I would recommend University of California, San Diego (UCSD). It has good cool weather, right next to the beach, like 2-3 mins away from it. Has decent bus transportation system, but car parking tends to be a little hectic and competitive. Plus, UCSD, which is actually located in La Jolla, is pretty close to Arizona, so you wouldn't have to go to far, if in any case you need to go back home.
In Kalamazoo, MI there is Western it is a great 4 year school. Public transportation is good near and on campus. Weather is good. We have 4 seasons and the winters here are not that bad and you can learn to ski or snow board. Good Luck where ever you go and continue your education.
I love the WVU or Pitt answer... I live between the two schools and go to both cities for medical/social/cultural needs. They both have great transportation systems, WVU especially for students, and lots of things within walking distance. Pitt is probably better for jobs, but it depends on what you do. If you're in the financial field let me know and I'll see what I can do :)
If you're looking for something smaller or different than the average state college, look into King College in Bristol, TN, or Marietta College in Marietta, OH. Both are excellent smaller private schools, and both have great privately funded financial aid programs. Bristol ahs become more of a NASCAR town than a college town, but only on race weekends :)
New York-represent!
But its expensive to live here.
University of Pittsubrgh...east coast, good school, fun city. Try applying for financial aid.
