Naturally low intellegence levels?

Question:
Ok I am 18 years old and I am going to college on a swimming scholarship, It seems like it takes me longer then anyone else to learn something, it can be english or math material. My memory is horrible, and I have to studying twice has long a a normal kid and end up getting the same grade. My spelling and problem solving skills are really weak, and I have always had trouble with it when I was younger. I just work really hard in school and thats why I don't don't fail. My mom said she was like me when she was younger, ( She didn't go to college) I keep on reading that intellegence levels is partly genetic. I am very athletic, 6'2, above average in looks, with wavy hair and green eyes, but I am thick as a brick. Wtf?

Answer:
you can't fix stupid

p.s. I'm not that smart either
Do you learn better when you can see what you're learning? Or do you learn better when you when you read about it, then see it done? No two people ever truely learn the same way. I learn visually with accompanied reading. Remember the three R's "Read, Recite, Review". You first read the material to yourself, then reciete what you read aloud, then review by writing what you have learned. It really helps. Remember, don't quit!!
dude if you work hard you can do achieve anything. Hopefuly one day it will just click and youl be clever and work hard and one day TAKE OVER THE WORLD
Yep, they say it's probably about 50% genetic. Don't feel bad though, you're not retarded or anything, just less bright than the average college student perhaps. College is not for everyone; it was never intended to be. Society needs blue collar workers just as much or more than people with college degrees, but the pay for bright people tends to be higher (sorry).

Just enjoy college and don't worry too much about your grades. Try to pick an easy major, something that you're relatively good at and that you like doing. When it comes to jobs don't just consider things that require a 4 year college degree but other jobs as well, but for now I'd say make use of that scholarship and enjoy the swimming. :) Make use of tutoring services etc that your college offers (ask your advisor about them).

And fwiw... high intelligence doesn't necessarily make people more succesful and happy or anything... My IQ is 150+ and I've been struggling for years with depression and I've dropped out of college so w/e. You can live a fulfilling or miserable life with whatever IQ you've got.
