Will a College accept me?
Question:
I will also mention that while I was going to community college I was active duty military so I have my Gi Bill to pay for my last two years and that also gives me Good Credintials I would think,. I applied to FSU (Florida State Univ.) Vanderbilt, And TSu (Tenn State Univ)
Answer:
Vanderbilt is extremely tough to get into- don't feel bad about that. FSU is also quite competitive. I am surprised thayt you did not get accepted by TSU, but there could have just been a lot of good applicants.
If you have a 3.1 in college, that pretty much wipes away what you did in high school. Most people apply to 6-12 schools, and the problem here is that you just applied to too few. By all means tak classes to raise your GPA, but talk to the counselors at your community college. They should be able to tell you where you have a good shot at getting accepted. Good luck from a fellow veteran.
Colleges look at more than just your GPA, nowadays. They also look at your application, your essay, your extra-curricular activities, how you help the community, what you want to do with your education. So, continue at the college you attend now, adding in some valuable volunteer work or work experience related to your field of interest. Practice your writing, so you can write English really well, too.
I never had to send my high school transcripts, only the first time applying for college. I was at a university for 3 years then went to a community college for a year and applied to 2 universities. One rejected me and they told me why. They told me what I could do different next time when I was ready to apply again. Maybe you can call and ask, it doesn't hurt to do so. I got accepted to the other university, they said they would give me a chance as long as I completed a math course during the summer. Don't be afraid and ask questions.
Good luck
