Volunteer Service?
Question:
Answer:
Remember quiting will not look good on a resume or college papers. It is best to find out why they are not showing up. Contact someone in charge and ask. Tell them you are willing to give your time but not waste your time.
If this is still a problem and you dont have too many hours in this project, quit, and then don't add it to your portfolio. Then find another volunteer project that is more organized. You have the right to ask solid questions before you volunteer for any project. If they don't seem organized or it is not run the way you like, move on. There are many others out there.
Here are some ideas:
Boys and Girls Club
Food Banks
Senior Centers
Family Resource Centers
Churches
Youth Groups
Youth Sports Programs
Meals on Wheels
Civil Air Patrol
Humane Society (animals)
Department of Transportation (trash patrol)
ESL Classes (English as a second language)
Literacy Programs (Library)
Headstart Programs
And Many more. Community Service can do so much for you.
My son got a college scholarship for ROTC. He showed he was well rounded, did sports, and volunteered many hours, and was a member of many clubs. To give you college money these local groups want to see that you are well rounded. Serving shows that you give your time.
Good Luck
First thing, if there is an executive Director I would talk to them. Tell them how you feel and how you feel things can be resolved. If that doesn't work, nicely write a letter of resignation. It is a lot nicer than saying "I QUIT". Then I would go volunteer at the nursing home. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
