So...here it goes???

Question:
Alright, back in the day I was an amazing athlete in track and cross country. I won several national and state titles in highschool (distance running). I got a full scholarship to a school that was one of the leading distance programs in the nation. Once I arrived I was hurt for awhile and then continued running back to normal...This is my question. So, after a few months of training (NOT OVERTRAINED) I continued to just get worse and worse as the months as years went on... I don't think you can lose talent?? Their has to be a reason why I just continued to get worse...worse meaning running minutes slower then my freshman year of highschool and here I am at one of the top programs in the country, everyone else got faster? Help me figure out factors so I can run good again?

To rule out possibilities you guys might think:
Not anemia
ate healthy (no under eating or over eating)
stayed a healthy weight (didn't gain weight or lose weight from previous years)
not overtrained

Answer:
hmm are you a guy or a girl?
this sounds like a common issue for girls. when we're young, tiny, and stick-shaped, we can run fast and many run the fastest they ever will. then when puberty or general growth hits, you grow & get injured... then when you start running again it's not as fast as before.
the only thing is-- this usually happens between freshman and senior year of high school. by college, growth is usually finished and ppl can focus on adjusting to the new body and running. did you get your growth spurt late?
also-
are you injured in any way? that'll hold you back.
are you 'in the zone' mentally? if your mind's not in it your body won't be either.
have you considered taking some time off? even though you havent 'overtrained', consistent training for a long period of time can run you down. maybe a short break would be good for your body and allow you to improve again?
Sounds mental. Are you burned out? Are you focused?
If you feel fine, no illness, maybe mono or something else, how is your training going? Do you have a diary that will tell you what you were doing and the times you have run with that training? Is the training now different than the training you were doing that was getting better results? Have you been doing some time trials to see how the training is working or not working and what changes you might need? You can not lose your talent. There has to be a reason and if it is not physical, that is, you are not suffering from some medical problem, then it must be a change in your training that is not working for you.
is must just be u. those other people might be just getting faster than u.
it might just be a faze and u just got nervous. Don't worry you might just need to train a little different and change ur routine aroud it worked for me because i am 12 i can run a mile in 4 mins now and i did the same thing for a while i was doing bad but i changed my schedule and i got better than before.. so change things around a little or train harder.
Best of luck!
maybe your natural abilities just peaked in high school, that happens to some people. Everyone is different and they peak at different times. This is not unusual so don't worry about it. From what you say you have gotten many achievements that many runners only dream of and so you should be happy for that.

I BET YOU ARE 12 AND RUN A MILE IN 4 MINUTES! That is a good joke.
