I don´t understand why everyone thinks Obama is Black... he´s half black and half white... does having a little bit of african in you automatically make you black? if someone is 90% white and 10% black, what would that person be?
i´m a republican but i like obama... i just can´t vote for him yet because he wants to withdrawl the troops, and we just can´t do that right now... otherwise my kids will have to go back and finish the job...
he should just run for gov of illinois, and try to implement his big health care plans and what not there, and in the next 4 or 8 years if it turns out to be very succesfull, then go for pres and try to make it happen on a big scale, but offering health coverage to +300 million people is a bit unrealistic, i mean it works in europe becuase those countries have like 4 million ppl, or 17 million tops (netherlands)
try it on a small scale first, and if it works, he´d be that much of a stronger cantidate for the pres...

The fact is, as a Democrat, Obama would help to expand and create all type an manner of entitlement programs and redistribute EVERYONE'S paycheck. Not focusing on black ppl.
Something you should probably know is that Obama's family is 90% Irish and all but one of his ancestors was white. Hi's father was a Kenyan immigrant to Hawaii.
I put it to you that Obama does not identify with the black community in the US anymore than the other candidates. He wasn't raised the same way black ppl are in this country and was raised unlike even regular white ppl.
I don't consider his race or wether he will put black ppl first. I only consider the fact that I do not want to pay more taxes and give away my money to anyone that's not working just as hard as me to pay my own way.
All I have to say to the people who are going to vote for Obama. "Would you vote for him if he was white?"
If he wins, I doubt that much would change. as we can see right now, the President is but one of three branches of Government. Unless all are on the same page, one branch does not make a tree.

Actually, our current Supreme Court just overturned one of the affirmative action programs you are talking about.
Assuming no changes in the court, I don't think it will matter who gets elected...more affirmative action programs are going to be found unconstitutional and reduced/removed over the next decade.
Since your life has not changed in your whole 24 years then it is no surprise another President such as Obama would not make a big change either.

There are many opportunities not just for African Americans but also for, single parents, hispanics, foreign students of many nationalities. There are scholarships for everyone unless one is a rich person and doesn't qualify or one has good grades they can qualify for other one's. I don't feel it is necessarily based on race as you ask. Due to the fact there are schools for women only, for certain religions, and many other things.
White only schools, you could say that about the Yale, Princeton etc. Not until affirmative action did they start allowing other minorities.
What about golf, they would not allow Tiger Woods to play at certain places at the beginning not women. They were white only! This is in our day. There are many white only affairs such as the KKK! You know them?

If Obama is elected, it will be because white people also voted for him, not just black people. It will be because white people thought he was the best person for the job.
