My credit is not that great and I didnt need a co-signer...ask ur financial aid office
Try a federal stafford loan. There is no credit check and no cosigner required. Stafford loans are guaranteed by the government, specifically because the typical college student doesn't have an established history.

Start by filling out the government FAFSA for (fafsa.ed.gov) and then speak to the financial aid office at your school. They can guide you how to get the loans you need. You can find out more info on Stafford loans at http://www.salliemae.com/get_student_loa...
If you complete your FAFSA, meet all the regular requirements for federal student aid, and complete your financial aid file at your school, then you qualify for a federal stafford loan, easy as that. All you have to do is ask for it.

If you haven't filed your FAFSA yet, you can do so at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you don't plan to attend till Aug07, the FAFSA for the 07-08 school year is not available till Jan 1, 2007, so wait till then to go online and apply.

Once you've completed your FAFSA, contact your school's financial aid office to inquire about their loan process--each school has a different processing flow.

Federal Stafford loans are not based on credit at all.

-There's a link to a very helpful website that lets you not only apply for various student loans and scholarships, but also search search information about different colleges so you can see which one is right for you. I used this when I was a senior in high school and it helped me beyond belief.
