When is the best time, as a high school Senior, to start applying for college?

Question:
My Junior year was not the best year for me due to my surgery for Hydrocephalus and my grades and attendence slipped a little. I'm really ready for my Senior year and I'm ready to make straight A's and do good again. I was wondering when would be a good time to start applying for scholarships and applying at colleges? I'm thinking maybe after my first report card so that my transcript will be A-Ok. Proffesional opinions and real life situations would help...

THANKS!

Answer:
start applying and looking for scholarships at the beginning of your senior year. You should look at colleges at this time as well, and start putting together your applications. Get your recommendations early, because the teachers and counselors might become loaded with tons of recommendations to write for students who waited for the last minute
You should have started applying to colleges by November of your Junior year. Colleges usually start considering financial aid during Jan-Feb. Big colleges usually have a waiting list for housing, and that can be filled up by Dec. of your Junior year.

However, it is not too late to go on line and look at the admission requirements of the various colleges you would like to attend. Some of them may still be accepting applications. Talk to a real person there if you have questions. That is better than waiting and trying to bring your grades up and then talking to them.

Probably you could get into a community college even if a big four year school has closed its enrollment for the next year.

Read online what each college admissions policy is and call them if you are confused. Don't assume you are either safe in your present course of action, or that there is no hope for you to get where you want to go. Ask the people at the specific college what you should do. They are paid to help people just like you. :)

I hope this next year is much better for you.
probably now...no matter what your grades and attendence were before.they may look into that, but just because you were sick or whatever, they can look over that too
Each school has a different suggested filing date for your application. Penn State for example suggests you apply by November 30th of your Senior year in high school.
Financial Aid is another beast. Different schools and states all have different recommended filing dates as well. For example, Penn State recommends you file your FAFSA by Feb 15th of your Senior year for maximum aid and scholarship consideration. While Pennsylvania has a deadline of May 1st for PHEAA grants (state grants).
Do not wait for your first semester grades as a senior to post before you apply to school, for most places that'll be too late! Most schools don't even look at your senior year (except for courses taken, and obviously to make sure you graduated) so that won't help you.
why not now? early is the best time to start filling out those applications,(if you have a college in mind) but first you must check out the college itself, the enviroment, the atmosphere, drom rooms, etc, ask for a tour of the college campous if you can.

if your grades slipped down, some college may or might not accept you, but I think that they want A-plus students.

and you need to think about financial aid or how are you gonna pay for collge because these days tuition is in about six figures, try go scolarships.com for example and do is what you need to do from them, usually they want an essay and others are different, but mostly explore our opptions.
Most high school seniors begin applying in October and November of their senior year. It will give you another chance to take the SATs, visit a few schools, and it will probably be after your first report card. Colleges vary on their application deadlines; most are in January. For scholarship help, I suggest talking with your guidance dept., they should have information on local scholarship that you can start to apply for around in Feb. or March. Good luck!
