Is Racism a two-way street? This will make you think.?
Question:
This was not sent because of any anger, or hatred. I'm curious)
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans.
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You Call me "White boy," "Cracker," "Honkey," "Whitey," "Caveman" and that's OK.
But when someone else calls you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand-******, camel Jockey, Beaner, ****, or Chink ... you call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi You have the NAACP. You have BET.
If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) .. we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day .. you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month .. we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to "advance" OUR lives we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships ... you know we'd be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White colleges."
THAT would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride .. you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society .. you call him a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists in the eyes of folks who are not white?
There is nothing improper about this e-mail. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on.
My best friend in the military was black and his his roomate was also black and whenever I came to pick him up I could tell he didn't like the fact that he was hangin' with me, The "WHITE BOY", Man, did I feel sorry that he couldn't see beyond the color of my skin. Within myself I use to shake my head and on the outside I would be nice and hopefully it would help to change his pespective.
This repost is not exactly how I got it, I took the liberty of changing a few things and hope that does not offend the original writer.
I just hope that everybody, of all races will read this with a open mind and see that we need to be proud of who we are and realize that we all are something special and that sharing this big blue marble needs to be in peace together and not with HATERED.
What I really hope is that this message could get to the folks in the Middle East and then Terrorism could become a thing of the past, but if not, keep you shootin' arns handy pardners, cause this writer is all for PEACE but, I AIN"T NO PUSH OVER !!
Answer:
You do have White Entertainment Television - it's called CBS, ABC, NBC.
You do have White Pride Day - it's Independence Day.
You do have White History Month - it's January, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December.
Whites don't need help advancing in the world.
White do have predominantly white colleges - do I need to name them?
it is quagmire
good thing "This was not sent because of any anger, or hatred." I'd hate to catch you on a bad day! ;)
we are all americans... when we die we are just a spirit...so to me color really does not matter... but certain things should not be said.
amen brother, this points out who the real racist are and they aren't white. when ever, has any so called minority moving into a neighborhood raised the values there? it is the first sign of certain failure for the unlucky ones already there.....
I agree. We are all people but African Americans are allowed to say we are racist but they couldn't be. People are people and people are different from one another. We should all be free to be proud of our cultures or heritages or whatever.
HMMM. I think you just discovered reverse bias, this is not new. it was addressed in the supreme court case of bacchi vs davis law school. bachi proved it was illegal discrimination to keep him (a white man) out of law schoool while less qualified blacks were let it. (i am not sure about the spelling of his name )
Racism is and always will be a 2 way street. People like the KKK give every single white person a bad rap. But the problem is that once you give one race any kind of special attention for any reason, you create a 2 sided brawl. It is offensive to all races to be called a racial slur, even to whites. I say do away with all "one race" institutions, funds, etc. History is history, it cannot be changed.
Point well taken sir. But have you ever been to Atlanta or Chicago there are neighborhoods that are just as dangerous (all white) as anything you will ever see!. The truth is we all need to be more open minded. Because as an officer of the law we all have to ask ourselves would I be just as scared regardless of color. My answer is yes a gun is a gun, sick is sick!!
afro americans have all those services because they DID go through a time of heavy racism from white people, and it fuked them up, left them in poverty and with a low socio economic status, it was a result of white people, those services are needed to get things back on track. but i agree with the whole thing, but sh*t, its more complicated than that
Listen to that ... whatever that was. Read it aloud. Listen to all the "you" comments and "us" comments. Listen to the generalities.
Baby, if that makes you think, you need to read something else...
That piece of writing regulates people into pre-ordained categories and makes HUGE assumptions about what people think based on the colour of their skin.
Racism is racism, whether it is perpetuated by a person with light or dark skin.
Read it again! Ouch!
Oh okay well WET is the country music channel. White people are on BET all the time, and BET is owned by a white man. There is a white college fund you prick >> http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/8... you don't see black people calling it racist! White people are allowed to go to black colleges I know some that do. And is Harvard not a white university? White people have every other month a day to celebrate their "history" whatever that may be, probily about how they acomplished how to get slaves in a boat and sail across the Atlantic and consider us property. And as for being racist it's in every race and it's wrong either way. So really GET FUKING FACTS STRAIGHT!
I wrote this to the original "quote";
Whoever wrote it gave themselves away so may times it's pathetic - and it is without question a racist tract. A lot of the points are blatantly ignorant, but the main issue I have is with the writer's ridiculous idea of symmetry of offense.
Reduced to it's "logical" core, the contention is that a certain act, whether committed by person X, or by person Y, should be judged equally. Really? By that reckoning, if a guy walks up to me and slaps me in the face because he hates people like me, I would be just as guilty of assault as he is if I slapped him back - after all, a slap is a slap.
The point is not that I'm right in slapping him back. The point is that in this case my "assault" resulted from his actions - not from my hatred of people like him. You may accuse me of over-reacting or being imprudent, or whatever. But it's damned obvious the two acts cannot be judged equally.
The writer suffers from this myopia of "sameness." Of course it's wrong for a black person to call a white person any offensive name. But is it the same as when a white person calls a black man a nig**er? It may even be that we can say that the black man is indeed a "racist" when he insults the white man, but that STILL doesn't make it the same thing. (In much the same way as I and my slapper were both stupid, but guilty of different things.)
And I believe a lot of the "minority" anti-white sentiment mimics the response of the guy who got slapped first in my scenario above. It's a nasty, defensive reseponse - a sort of "payback."
How does that work? Simple. Since time immemorial the power in this country has been held almost exclusively by people who, for example, considered blacks inferior beings. (I know this, I've been around here a long time.) For a large part of my own lifetime, blacks were effectively less than second-class citizens. What exactly did people expect from that continuous debasement and denigration, that constant slapping?
Yes, I know, everyone will say "It got better." And did they expect that the reality of the struggle for getting things "better" wouldn't highlight the reluctance of the "majority" to make it that way? And by the way, after all this "betterment," how much porportional power do blacks wield?
And here's where the race thing can rear its ugly head yet again, as we can read in the text in question - with the implications that ghettoes are the natural place for blacks, or that crime and blackness are necessary complements of each other.
Summary: It's wrong to insult anyone, but let's give no credence to these shallow comparisons that only serve to hide the real intentions of the comparer.
I understand your argument, and I can see where you're coming from as a self-described 'straight, white, male'.
I think what you're failing to realize is that you still represent a majority influence, with a legacy of descrimination which goes back many hundreds of years.
As a majority political interest, you have special responsibilities to the minority interests around you, especially when prior history is brought to bare. It does not matter that the minorities, when taken into collective, outnumber the single majority interest. These minorities are quite diverse, and while they all seem irritating to you, they each have different and unique perspectives that should be addressed, by you and your majority interest group.
It's hard being at the focus of such attention, I know. But that too is the legacy left to you by your ancestors. Own up to it and be responsible for it, if you have any hope of not one day becoming a small underpriveleged, minority yourself. History has a way of doing things like that to people (and groups) who don't learn their lessons.
Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians...there is a racist group in each nationality. There's not all racists whites or all racists hispanics.there's some in all.
Listen white boy, ya'll got the last 400 years. Its our time to shine now and you keep trying to take back the limelight. In truth, we don't see you as racist if you have the white pride deal (don't tell anyone I said that, I'll deny it as a racist diatribe on your part) and all that, but you are stealing the thunder again. Calling you racist when you do that seems to slow it down well enough.
I do like crackers though, especially with a little cheese on top.
(In case anyone didn't pick up the sarcasm, I was joking through the whole thing. Racism is wrong in any form).
You make a good point. With all of the changes going on in the U.S. today, whites may become the minority in the future. Then will we be able to have White Pride Day, White History Month, etc.? I doubt it.
And even if this message reached the Middle East and all of the other places that terrorism exists, that wouldn't be the end of it.
"There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Native Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans."
Actually..."just Americans" would be aboriginal Americans or 'native' Americans.
Everyone else would be Italian American, Irish American, English American... etc. The American part of your lineage would go back, at best, a few hundred years. The true Americans have been here for many thousands of years.
As for racism... the power structure has been white and remains white. While you can point out racial injustice that has victimized whites, for every one example of that... there's 50 examples of racism that targets blacks, latinos... or "just Americans".
This has to be the most blatant display of racism I have ever seen. The violence in the black community is brought on by the never ending cycle of ignorance, much like racism, it is ignorance. My best friend of 17 years is Caucasian and I love her, why do I love her? That love was obtained by taking the time to get to know her and where she came from, just as she got to know me and all about my culture, which caused us to have a mutual respect for one another. How many ghettos have you lived in to be able to understand why they are so dangerous? Every channel on T.V is a display of white entertainment since the networks are own by white people. B.E.T is the first black owned and operated T.V network in history.
It was an accomplishment that wasn't given but worked hard for. Martin Luther King Day? What about Columbus Day, Presidents Day (they were all white); you really need to give it up and find out about the people you just stereotyped here. Black History Month was earned not given to us. Tell me where in your history were you taken from your homeland and made slaves out of? Held oppressed to the point where we had to die to acquire even half of the same rights that whites have. We have the NAACP you have KKK, and yea you have White Pride day it's just not on the calendars yet! Yes and you have an organization for the advancements of whites it's called The Arian Brotherhood. Yes all this is true but, be proud of whom you are to each his own. I am proud of who I am so proud that I don't make post like this asking questions about why things are the way they are when I know I am not about to do anything about it. The best thing we can all do as Americans is raise our children the future Americans of the world not to live out and carry on these stereotypical standards of life.
Well I will revise it for you.. God Bless You, and have a nice one.
Blacks died to learn.
Blacks died to vote.
Blacks died to be able to eat inside a restaurant.
Blacks died to be able to go to school with people of the opposite race.
Blacks died to even be able to hold a conversation like this over the internet!
All equal rights that most of us should have been born with Blacks had to die to obtain.
Which of your rights have you had to die for?
I hear you and agee with what you wrote. There are no laws protecting the white race from racisim. I think it may be because the white race is viewed as the creator of racisim. Because the law does not recognize reverse racisim, I believe racisim will increase in our country because so many whites are fed up with the hypocracy. I will never forget Chris Rock on the Oprah Show. In their conversation they were saying "they" meaning the black race can get away with using the "N" word. But no one else should use it. If they dont respect their own by not using the "N" word, how can they expect others to? I wish all people, no matter what race, would just treat one another like HumanBeings and forget about race or even gender or age. But like so many white Americans, I to am becoming fed up.
That's quite a diatribe, Mr. Soapbox. Unfortunately I have to tell you the same thing I tell everyone else that reaches your conclusions. You aren't going to do anything about it - you are just going to rant. Somehow this makes you feel better and I guess I'm happy for you - but what do your comments do for me - or anyone else for that matter? Nothing. That said and since you really don't have any quality ideas to bring to the table - you just spew tired rhetoric - you're just wasting your time and everyone else's. In short, nobody cares.
Your right there is a double standard but that double standard is based upon the karmic after affects of what the white man has done for hundreds of years. We can't expect wounds that run through centuries of history to heal instantly just because our grandparents said My bad maybe we don't need Jim Crow laws after all. We are living with the karmic fall out of all of that strife and all of those negative actions.
Rasism does still exsist in the US from a white perspecitve and it slows down any progress we might have. Sure it might not be right but if everytime you looked at someone who was white you had to wonder if they were looking down on you because you were black, you might learn to look down on them before they get the chance to do it to you.
But basicly it comes from segergation. I lived in a small town in the south that was all white nearly 20 years ago now. I moved there from a very diverse community where I was exposed to people not just of all races but people from a lot of different countries. The ones that made the biggest impact on the life of this little white girl were the group from Africa each one was from a different country but they had come to Harding University on a scholarship paid for by Sam Walton in an attempt to teach them economics and goverement so that they could then go home and hopefully improve the lives of their people. Listening to them talk was amazing. So much of my views on everything were changed by these people from another continent. But then I moved. I spent two years in this little town where there were no blacks. Back then you crossed the state line and saw all the welcome signs then you saw the county line sign, then the next thing you saw was this highway is adopted by the KKK. I had black friends I couldn't let come visit me because of the town we were in. I had a whole life I had to leave behind because of a preaching job my father decided to take and my life there was less than ideal. I felt my mind dieing a little bit every day.
The second year we were there the church decided to take a bus trip to the Mall of Memphis so that the teenagers could get out and do some christmas shopping together. While we were there I found myself alone for a few minutes. I passed a group of young black men just standing around looking down over the railing at the level below us. One of them looked at me and smiled but I paniced. Why? I had just spent a year and a half in a place where he wouldn't have been welcomed after dark and I hadn't been able to speak to anyone who wasn't white in that time either. I hated myself for it. I went home and cried. I knew those people I once knew would have been so disappointed in me but the truth is without exposure you start to believe that there are diffferences and it isn't just a white to black thing.
It works with all races. Eventually if you stick with people who have your skin color all the time then you start looking badly upon those who aren't your skin color just because there is a visual difference and you don't know how they are going to react to your skin color after all they may not have been overly exposed to your skin tone either.
We have to learn to live together, work together, eat together, party together. People who do that rarely have to wonder if the person next to them is a racist they know one way or the other. But as long as we keep to ourselves, we will always have a problem with racism in this country.
I believe racism is a two-way street. As a minority myself, I do not see myself as someone who should be singled out for special privileges because of my skin color (though I have no idea what sex kitten is talking about with being a minority and land value). As for the holidays, I believe that is just making minorities feel more a part of America because of its diverse makeup. Whites can be broken down into different heritages such as Irish, English, German, and so forth, all of which have a holiday in some shape or form. I also think in the push to look politically correct, some holidays are more exposed than others. No one wants to look like the bad guy. As for the all-black colleges, those rose up in attempt to lure more African-Americans into higher education when there was a time that they were barred from other colleges. Should they integrate? I believe that they should now that civil rights have taken away segregated colleges (which is just my opinion). But what about all-women colleges and all-male colleges? Not racism, but segregation based on gender. What about the lack of diversity on television? Some of the best shows a few years ago were all-white casts (Friends, Seinfeld). It's hard to get rid of the stigma of racism when influential media outlets don't even diversify. I believe the reason white people are picked on is because they are the majority; the biggest target. Look at other countries where whites aren't the minority, the racist view would be reversed. This is seen in places like Asia, where anyone who is not of Asian descent is sometimes regarded condescendingly. This argument can go on forever, but the bottom line is until everyone sheds any and all racist inclinations, it will always be there.
Shhhhhhh...!! Al Sharpton Might hear you!
Alicia S, When were you a slave? When were you denied the chance to eat where you wanted to? What happened 140 years ago is the same thing that has happened for recorded history. When are you going to take the responsiblity for your own situation. Whites, Native Americans, Blacks, and every other group have problems. Go to the mountains of West Virginia and tell me that those places aren't in need. But you don't see them using it as a crutch.
Well, the original writer of the rant sounds like an ignorant white person. Yes, most or all of what was written is true. But keep in mind that you "whites" did have a 200 years of head start on the rest of us.
Let's address each point:
Why do you automatically assume the rest of us thinks it's "OK" for someone to call a white person a "cracker" etc.? If anyone uses a racial slur out of hate, it is not OK. I call my Hispanic friends wetbacks all the time, but it's never out of hatred. There's a difference. A word/term have different meanings in different contexts. Know the difference.
Whites did commit violence against blacks and other races throughout history. It's a fact. But what does that have to do with the ghetto being a dangerous place to live? You're comparing apples to oranges. And the last time I checked, Columbine, and recently, the Amish school killings were done by whites.
Sure, there's MLK day and Chavez day... what about President's day? Columbus day? 4th of July? Halloween? Those are all holidays celebrating a white person or the white culture.
You don't have WET, but what about the country music channel? Or the NHL? Or Turner classics? NASCAR? Last time I checked, it was a bunch of whites on there. But SO WHAT? BET caters to a different market then the country music channel. It's not about being white or black. It's all about the greens. It's beyond race. I bet you if there was money to be made in WET, someone would do it. Hell, I'm not white, and I would if I can make money.
Unless the Black or Hispanic Chamber of Commerence doesn't allow persons of another race in, you can't call them racist. I don't have the research on this, but I'm sure there are White Chambers of Commerece around.
And there are white colleges, they are called Ivy League Schools.
There's the Million Man March, and then there's the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (all whites). So what? It's a marketing ploy.
"You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride .. you call us racists." --- This is a good point.
About the white police officer beating up on blacks. Notice how you say black gang member or black drug dealer? Why do you automatically associate blacks as gang members or drug dealers?
In any case, racism has been and will always be around. Again, so what? Life is short, who gives a f LI c k. Just live life be. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, does it? Life isn't about race. It's about money, booze and women.
I think the idea is that because caucasians are in the majority in the U.S. that even though we don't call it "White Entertainment television, the other networks (besides UPN) mostly focus on predominantly white entertainment. Do you know any black people that watch Will and Grace? Not the one I know thats for sure.
The Same goes for Black History Month, and affirmative action (which is definately a flawed system)...The history books tend to focus on predominantly white acheivments, so even though we don't say that october is "White hsitory Month" it is because that is what we as a society focus on...
There are so many things that need to be said to you for you to understand the mindset of "minority" peoples in this country. So I will just answer each question one at a time:
1. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You Call me "White boy," "Cracker," "Honkey," "Whitey," "Caveman" and that's OK.--I can't speak to that because I have never used that language
2. You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?--That is a two part question (or answer). You are statistacally more likely to be a victim of violence from someone of your own race than someone outside of your own race. Ghettos are dangerous because of proverty not because of race
3. You have BET. If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) .. we'd be racists.--You do have "WET" as you put it. Every station that does not specifically catter to a minority group is "WET." The shows are about prodominately white lives with white characters played by white actors. Very rarely do you find a "Cosby Show" or a "Fresh Prince of Bell Air" on network television. Stations like "BET" were developed not to exclude white America, but to give black America a chance to see and identify with the characters on TV (good and bad). Don't believe me. Get a TV guide and see how many shows are on TV this week where the main character or family is a person of color, then count the number for whites. What percentage is for people of color.
4. If we had any organization for only whites to "advance" OUR lives we'd be racists.--You do have such an organization, it is called the KKK. You may not like that fact, but it is true. Go to one of thier websites and you will see they are for the advancement of white America
5. If we had White History Month .. we'd be racists.--Every month is White History Month. Think about the fact that the only time we learn about the contributions of African Americans in this country in our schools is during the month of Feb. If we were truely equal, why are the discussions about the contributions to history made by African only in Feb and there are little to no discussions about the contributions of other races.
6. We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that?--Not sure how to answer that. I always assumed that members in a Chamber of Commerce paid dues for the chamber not tax payers paying tax dollars (if that is what you are hinting at). So if you know something different please share.
7. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships ... you know we'd be racists. There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US, yet if there were "White colleges."--Just because they are not know as white colleges doesn't mean they are not "white colleges." Black universities where founded because black students where not allowed entrance into most universities in this country. These colleges gave a fair and balanced education to black students. Today, like every other college and unversity, addmission to black colleges is not limited to black students only. As for scholarships, how many black kids vs. white kids got into college because of "legacy" or because they "bought" their way in? 1000's of kids of every color do not get into the school of the choice (that they deserve to get into) because of finacial need. Student loans are often not enough. I feel everyone should be able to get the best education they can regardless of race. Maybe then we would have questions like this.
8. In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists--That is not what the million man march was about. What rights are you not afforded as a white person in America soley because you are white?
9. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride .. you call us racists--When your race has been systematically put into a status that is considered subhuman, anything you do that can elevate your race above that status is a call to be proud. It has been my experience that when white people in this country want to show just how proud they are of their race it is at the expense of other races (i.e. the KKK and Skin Heads). If I am wrong on that, please site other groups.
10. You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society .. you call him a racist.--First you are assuming that the police only shoot at or beat up black gang memebers and drug dealers. They also beat up and shoot innocent people, unarmed people, handicapped people, ect. They don't need to shoot or beat up anyone. Once again, you are more likely to be a victim at the hands of someone in your on race than not, however, the news would not leave you to believe that. Well believe this, 6 out 10 of the FBI's most wanted and 10 out of 15 of the US Marshals most wanted are white. To me that says white people are committing more crimes than people of color
I did not answer all of your questions, but I hope I gave you something to think about. If you are truely interested in having some of your quesions answered, read these two books, both by Randal Kenedy-"******" and "Race, Crime, and the Law."
The people we have to "thank" for it are those in the past. Those who created such havoc that they made things such as the words "proud to be white" become a bad thing. It was white people that took this away from whites originally. Maybe someday it can come back, but that bad history is still too recent.
Yes, we may all be Americans but lets be realistic, we are not all treated equal. The definition "racist" boils down to if a person who is a member of a certain race loves that particular race more than any other race. Therefore, almost everyone is racist because they probably love their race more than another.
People in general need to stop letting the media tell you whats going on in your world and try to read some things for yourself. If the black race is only 12% of the entire population, how can we be blamed for everything? Are we to believe that the entire 12% of Blacks are criminal and the entire 88% of remaining population are law abiding citizens? Of course not, you know that the numbers are not exact like that so to say that the ghettos are the most dangerous places to live is just like saying travel homes are only for white people. I am certain someone black owns a trailer home.
Also, ghettos - are not just to describe a black area. Ghettos can describe mobile home parks, Indian reservations, barrios - hispanics area. The definition of ghetto - a geographic area with concentration of any type of person WITH OR WITHOUT POVERTY.
Yes, we have the United Negro College Fund. So should the black race be ashamed that someone thought enough about the future of the black race to start something to give all blacks an opportunity to go to college? Is there anywhere in the constitution that says whites can't do the same?
We ALL HAVE MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY! Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for equality and unity of ALL PEOPLE. NOT JUST BLACK PEOPLE! Millions of whites marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. so please do not say that its a "black thing" just because the man is black. We celebrate President's Day and we don't say its a white thing. Its an American thing.
We have black history month because our history books fail to mention the inventions, creations and sacrifices that the black race gave to American, not just to the black race. So in order to recognize the black americans that played a role in AMERICAN HISTORY, not just black american history, we had to create black history month just to recognize something that should have been included in the beginning! So, why wasn't this already mentioned in the history books? Because black people did it?
And please, please become educated about the facts before we just go off and assume that because the title says it, it must be true. The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is 1. not a racist organization and 2. white people can join! Do your homework. The NAACP was founded by WEB Dubois (Black), Ida Wells-Barnett (Black), Henry Moscowitz (Jewish), Mary White Ovington (White), Oswald Garrison Villard (German-born Caucasian), and William English Walling (White). So how can an organization that whites help start be racist? It is an organization to help advance color people, it never said whites could not be a part.
Everyone pays for the Chamber of Commerce. Its called taxes. If the Chamber of Commerce was helping other races as they should, there would be no need for the Black chamber of commerce or Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
There are scholarships for Whites only. Google it.
And there are tons of White colleges. Any college that was not founded by African Americans is considered a 'white college.' I didn't make the rules, I just read them like you do. And there are white students who go to HBCU (Historically black colleges and universities) Just because its a black school doesn't mean that whites can't attend. I know some whites who attend Tuskegee.
Its a CHOICE to isolate yourself from things that mention black, not a requirement! Not even black sororities or fraternities discriminate against whites or anyone who is not black. I know a White Alpha, an Asian Phi Beta Sigma, and a White Delta. There is no where in the charter that says only blacks can join Black sororities or fraternities.
Its not that when white people exert their pride of their race that they are racist, its an action that follows it. The term "White power" is associated with White Supremacy and the KKK. So when you say that, you make people nervous because we have seen what those organizations can do.
In conclusion, I think we need to go back and stop throwing salt about what race has this and that and get back to the matter at hand; we all need to exist in this world equally. That is our biggest goal of the day. Yeah, blacks feel that we are 400 years behind due to slavery but unfortunately, that is not something that can just be erased and called "even." Its going to stay with the race forever because it is a part of history. Just as the Holocaust is a permanent memory of the Jewish community. I don't see anyone rallying about the UN designating January 27 as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Go and watch American History X and realize that sometimes you don't know who you are rallying against til you get to know them. And not all blacks are racist just like not all whites are racist.
Remember the next time you see a "black organization or a hispanic organization" don't be so quick to assume that its for that nationality only. A black man infiltrated the Masons, a white man helps start the NAACP.
You are telling the truth. There are a lot of people who are judgmental of every one. But we were all raised in a way that does not help who we are. We are all human. But if we all treated each other the way we want to be treated WE wouldn't need man made organizations to help us further our place in this world. We would all be accepting of one another. Unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world. We have all fallen short of trying to please each other as just belonging to the human race. We all see color, and race as a factor of why we shouldn't be seen with a person, why we should be afraid. And this alone is wrong. To my fellow People I want to say I'm sorry for doing this, I fall short too.
