Paying for college?

okayy, i have one year to go before i need to go to a university, and for now im looking at new york university or columbia university, which both are pretty much immensly expensive. i live in michigan right now, but i need to leave the state because my parents dont agree with certain things that i believe, we all are immigrants from iraq, but catholic, not that it matters. i want to be a surgeon and im very smart 4 point gpa, 27 on act and 1850 on sat, im going to retake the sat though, and im in mostly accelerated or ap classes. my problem is my parents wont be helping me and its getting to the point where im not even going to try to go to college cause it seems hugely impossible, other than student loans with manipulative interest, i dont know, any advice? =) thanks

Get pro-active and start finding out about assistantships and fellow-ships at these universities at once. Applications for these usually have deadlines as well. E-mail profs directly and ask for funding. Often, even if the department can't offer you assistance, profs will have their own research grants and if you can prove you're capable there is no reason why they won't want you to work for them and pay for your education.

that's no bigg deal, in the real world with real doctors and surgents grades does not matter much, some people are super book smarts but they got no skills, so what can i say except for good luck

ps keep taking them test, can afford to take so many test yet needs a loan, learn to save up
