If financial aid wont pay for a course my community college offers, what are my choices besides.?
Question:
Answer:
If I were you, I'd ask the financial aid rep why it won't accept financial aid. Is it truly a community college (state school)? If not, I'm concerned that this may be a red flag that they are not properly accredited.
Or, perhaps they just don't want to wait for financial aid $, so you need to pay them up front, and then wait for reimbursement? If that's the case, maybe you can get a loan by putting the future $ up as collateral.
There are usually work-study programs, where the community college helps you get a job on campus. That way you can earn money, but be near your classes, too.
If you have confidence & a good presence, you could go "cold" & talk to lawyers in town, telling them your situation & seeing if one will sponsor your education...give you a loan at low interest if you promise to work for them for a year afterward.
Good luck! I'm glad you're trying to improve your situation in life!
