HELP!! College residency tuituion form(SUNY,CUNY), How do you pay for it?

Question:
I am planning to go to a college in NYC.

I moved to America when I was in elementary school and how I am going to one of SUNY. But have problem with tuition fee the school is charging.

Unfortunately, I am not a legal resident nor citizen yet. The school told me to bring residency form to be qualified, and I did bring all the documents.

Now they say that they need the proof of that my residency statue will be legal in the USA.

Do you know how I can be qualified as a NY resident which I am, because I have been living in the city for more than 8 y ears. If you know specific document that I nee to bring or any way that I can tell to the college that I am, please let me know.

This is making so much trouble for my future...

Please HELP!

Answer:
As you have lived in New York state for 8 years, you would have qualified for Resident rates for the State, however, as Yak Rider already stated, you are an Illegal Alien, therefore, your New York state Residency is invalid. I am originally from Upstate NY.
You are going to have to put in a lot of work. The only way you can qualify as a NY resident for tuitioon purposes is to be in the USA legally. So you need to contact the US Citizenship & Immigration Services and try to make yourself legal. How old are you? Are your parents (or whoever brought you here) still alive? It may be up to them to apply for legal residence.

SUNY is merely applying the law in this case. It is up to you (or your parents) to apply for legal status from the federal government.

As for documentation, I assume you do not have a Green Card (Permanent Resident Card). Do your parents have one? If they do, that means they have forgotten to do some paperwork for you. In that case, you must get it sorted as soon as possible. There are age limits for applying.
I'm sorry, you are an illegal alien. You cannot qualify as a resident for tuition. You must pay at the foreign student rate. You are not eligible for government backed loans or grants.
After putting numerous kids through college, I have some exp on this.
I have always visited the school's financial aid office and stood in line with all my tax forms, paperwork from my accountant...
I have always received more aid for my kids than most people who just apply from home or who only call the school's financial aid office.
The theory is that the school has an empty chair and they want it filled. Why not with your child, just at a much more reasonable rate.
Of course, student loans, grants ..all that helps but visiting the school WILL make the biggest impact on financial aid for your child/yourself.
**This will not work for Illegal Aliens. One must be a Legal US Citizen or Resident.
