How do college players (football, basketball) that aren't drafted yet getting paid?
Question:
Alumni associations
Sponsors.
They usually sign with lower tier leagues. But they also graduate from college, don't forget that.
the college will pay them to go to skool there...illegally
The get loans from banks sometimes.
.
Endorsements usually.
It must have been a documentary for USC.
In most cases the players agent will loan them money, in the case of the high profile players its endorsement money.
NCAA players technically cant accept any money for their talents.that means no endorsements, no loans from any agents, and definitely no kickbacks from alumni. It happens pervasively, though, still. I'm sure there's quite a few sports scholarships with extremely generous stipends for "living expenses".
And players can still find ways to cachet on their future earnings - I guarantee you JD Booty wouldn't get turned down if he applied for a $100,000 Visa Platinum card.
Plus keep in mind a lot of these players come from money to begin with. Mom and Dad probably wouldnt think twice buying their son that Escalade, knowing they're going to get a million dollar home when their son signs next draft day.
