Would it be possible to get out and enjoy college in my situation?
Question:
credit situation
- bank as $23 bucks in it... >_> yeah, I'm poor
- on edge of my credit card limit but always manage to pay the basic amount on time, sometimes with extra if I can manage.
-no loans or scholorships yet
Is it possible for me to move out of my parents house, get a place, and go to college without seriously hurting myself financially?
No. You need to stay there as long as possible. If you can't afford everything there, you certainly can't afford it on your own.
Get grants and loans if possible. Get a job at a convenience store or restaurant that will work around your hours.
BTW, the purpose of school is to learn, not have a good time.
i would stick around your parents a while longer. If they're not asking for rent money or any money because you're there, then you're saving massive bucks there. Think about it, if you move out, you gotta pay for EVERYTHING: rent, utilities, it all adds up, FAST. Keep looking for a job. Maybe lighten your class load a bit to help ease the burden of book fees and such. I really do wish you luck, sounds like you are trying to better yourself. Also, try for the financial aid. go to your school's department and see what they can do to help you out. There's a form, a free financial aid form that will help you out. Make sure parents have tax info current. The adviser should mention this to you. Called a FASA or something like that. Hope this works for you.
Consider applying for a full time job at a college.
Many colleges give free or reduced price tuition to their employees.
There may be a wait period (for example, you might not get the free or discounted tuition for 6 months to a year. Apply for any entry level staff position.
You can use your wait period to save up for an apartment and/or pay off your credit card.
It may take longer to complete your degree this way, but you gain employment history and real world experience as you finish your coursework. You get employee benefits, and you get out of your parents house.
Best of luck to you!
