Please help me!?
Question:
I want my paper to look as professional as it sounds but I do not really know if I should follow MLA format like I would for classes or if I should amend it slightly to suit my purposes. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Answer:
I just opened up my folder with my college essays in it. I just did all this stuff the past few months. Any essays I wrote for scholarships were double spaced and had my name (and page number if necessary), as well as the award it was for in the header. Times New Roman size 12 font, standard Microsoft Word formatting, and no particular title. If you have to write more than one, I'd put "topic #" in the header. It shouldn't concern you too much, I'd be more focused on the essay itself, but at least you don't have to concern yourself with this part of it now.
I am an English teacher and if I were you, I would put in in MLA format. I've been in your position not too many years back, and using MLA format was accepted. Plus, it will show the colleges that you are familiar with that format! Your first instinct was the correct one!
