Do you have to pay taxes on a college scholarship?

Question:

Answer:
A scholarship is paid to the school in order to reduce the expense. It is not income for the student. It is not taxable and nor should it be.

It would be like paying take on coupons.
That's an interesting point.

The answer is no, but in theory you should have to.
