I cant afford 'overseas fee' for College in UK, any other options for me? PLEASE HELP!?
Question:
Answer:
it's quite simple really, just don't go to college.at least not yet anyway.you're old enough to get a job,so do that for now.save as much as you can each week until you can afford to pay your fee.other than that, just wait three years, you'll still be young enough to start college and get the qualifications you're looking for.it's your decision at the end of the day,but whatever you choose to do,good luck, and i hope it all works out well for you in the end.
I am on a low wage, my wife looks after the home and children full time.
My son goes to college and has got himself a job to help with finances.
Don't try conning the benefit system, go and get a job!
Others manage (If you can't afford it, don't go to college! that's what others have had to do)
Get a job and then in the autumn, sign up at night school, it doesn't cost much, ask the council about it. It's about £30 or so for a course which lasts about 12 weeks. Also see about 'open university' which you can apply for and do the work at home. Look it up on the net.
Get a job, most students work part time and pay for themselves.
You should not be looking for freebies in the UK...you are making it look bad for people who work hard from your country...
If you have to pay "only" 4800Ł than start work in your free time. I it hard for you or you just simply doesnt want this option than forget UK. You can study in different parts of the EU. Even in Germany. I dont know do you get on well with your father or not but maybe he could help a little bit.
Courses in Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Hungary are cheaper, its possible to chose english as the language you want to use.
Good Luck!
Hi, the advice you were given was correct, you have to have been ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years prior the the start of your first academic year. Therefore from your date of arrival, therefore the first year you could apply for student finance would be 2010. The part time route is cheaper plus it gives the advantage of being able to work at the same time but it depends on your choice of course. Open University may be a good choice again though it would depend on your course and you would be sacrificing the social aspect of College life.
Note that home rate students at most colleges/universities will be charged £3070 themselves from 2007/2008 anyhow, although obviously they have the finance system to support them but the majority of the support is loans which they have to repay.
There are other funding sources however you would need to contact them individually with your full details to see if you are eligible. This includes scholarships and grants however it would be a bit lengthy to type her. I would suggest you go to http://www.studentsupportdirect.co.uk/po... download the booklet Guide to Financial Support for Higher Education Students in 2006/2007. Although this book relate to funding for UK students section 6 lists other sources of funding available.
Welcome to England. The web site below is a college that is exclusively for international students. It is a privately-owned college and it does not charge an overseas fee so you might find an opportunity there.
Good luck
