Does the military pay full college tuition for military men and women?

Question:
I'm not joining the military, I just wanted to know :)

Answer:
no the military does not...

there are options you can get which will supplement, you have the GI Bill, the Army College Fund, and Tuition assistance for active members.

The GI Bill will cost you $100 a month for one year while you are active... when you get out you can go to school and you will get around $1200 a month for 36 months ( which is 4 full college years )

Some programs will offer the Army College Fund ( it is available for other services... not sure on name tho ) and this can be worth, I will date myself with this... but last I knew $30000 for school.

Also if you are active duty, and have a job that will allow you to take part time classes, you will be reimbursed for 75% of the costs.

The only real way to get a FULL college tuition cost is to go to a military academy ( West Point, Annapolis ) or be active and qualify for an enlistment commissioning program, where they will send you to school, and your military job is to get a degree, usually after completion you will "owe" 4 to 6 years as an officer to the branch of the armed force that sent you.

Some states will pay for a veteran to go to a state school, Illinois is one, but you have to be a state resident BEFORE you join the service, and there may be other states that do something similar.

But generally speaking just because you served it is not a guarantee that your tuition will be paid for. Especially if you ant to go to school somewhere like Princeton, or Yale... where its just going to cost an insane amount of money to get a degree anyway
Yes, but we had to pay for the MGIB.(Montgomery GI Bill). It was about 100 bucks a month 10 years ago.
Yes there is full tuiition assistance as long as you don't fail the class.
The GI bill you pay $100 a month for 12 months. Thats it. When you begin college, they will pay it back to you in monthly payments. The rate of money you get back is rising. It is currently $38,000 you get back after paying your 12 months.

The Armed Forces offers soldiers, sailors, marines, guardsman, and airmen several programs to support their education goals including up to 100% Tuition Assistance for college courses taken during off-duty hours.

Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA) is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Congress has given each service the ability to pay up to 100% for the tuition expenses of its members.

Each service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process' and restrictions. This money is usually paid directly to the institution by the individual services.

Additionally active duty members may elect to use the MGIB "top-up" in addition to their service provided TA to cover high cost courses.

TA is not a loan; it should be viewed as money you have earned just like your base pay.
