Question about the Air Force (might be a silly question)?

Question:
I was wondering, I joining the air force in 2 years. My recruiter told me to wait 2 years and then apply for a scholarship program in the air force, by then i will be finishing college because the scholarship is for graduate school.

This might sound silly but, i saw really nice air force shirt, and i really wanted to buy it. But i realized i was not in it yet. So im wondering if i buy, would it be considered disrespectful to the air force?

Answer:
Depends on the shirt. They sell tons of them at air shows and such.

I retired in November from 20 years of active duty. I wouldn't be offended at all, as long as the shirt didn't imply that you were a serving.

"AIR FORCE" is fine, "AIR FORCE -- WE'LL NUKE YOU TIL YOU GLOW" isn't :)
Yes, you have not earned the right to wear it yet. I know people do, but that is just one of my pet peeves.
I'd be proud to see you wearing it myself.
no you would be supporting the air fource and if someone say oh you are in the air fource say no but in 2year i will be and in two years and a month i will be dead because im dumb and i joined the air fource the most dangerous part of the military.
Buy it, wear it with pride, and show your support for those serving their country!
No. I think it's showing your support.
I got out of the Air Force 40 years ago, but my daughter is in, and she sees to it that I never run out of AF shirts. (or hats)
It is disrespectful. Here is why.

In WW TWO, if a person in the military was caught by the enemy out of uniform, they were shot as spies. To counter that, the USA stated that if you are wearing ANY part of a uniform, you are considered "in uniform."

A sample of this was in the movie THE GREAT ESCAPE with Steve McQueen. He stole a German motorcycle and uniform and was trying to get away. As they closed in on him, he dumped the uniform and was wearing plain pants and shirt. When they caught him, he flipped over the collar of the shirt to show his US military Lieutenant bar.. He was wearing part of his uniform therefore was in uniform. He was not shot.

The law was never changed. If you wear any part of a US military uniform you are considered to be "in uniform." You may not be in compliance with military uniform standards, but you are still "in uniform."

For a civilian to wear the uniform without having earned it is insulting to the military, which is why many during the war protests in the 60s and 70s did it. They were insulting the military.

Today, it is not a nice thing to do because while many say they are opposed to the war, everyone says they support the troops. Don't insult the troops by wearing the uniform they earned.
I don't think it would be your wearing it in support for something your gonna join.
good luck
You're going to look like a wanna-be, unfortunately. Wait til you are IN and good luck :)
No it would not be disrespectful at all. Never let anyone tell you that it will be, if you are proud of your country and proud of your decision to become a member of the air force there is nothing disrespectful about that. you can trust me on this one, i am in the air force.
