I am a sophmore in college and want to become part of the Army National Guard when is the best time to enlist?

Question:
My reasons for enlisting are not purely financial, since I have my four college years paid for, but it is a factor in my decision for enlisting. I want to continue to graduate school, does the tuition offered also apply for graduate school? If it does or not, does it matter when I enroll in the army national guard, if it is now or after finishing college?

Answer:
Both Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and the GI Bill can be used for graduate school. Also, depending on your state, there may be other benefits offered to you because the ARNG is both a federal and state entity (unlike the reserves). In WA, you can get tuition paid for by the feds and room and board paid for by the state.
Never!
You could enlist now and not ship until the summer. You should look into the army reserves. See which one fits you best.
You can enlist now on delay entry program. Check tuition assistance program while on active duty.
If you Enlist now you will get tuition assistance but if you enlist after college after you complete training you will become E-4 Spec instead of E-2 Pvt.

I know this because i was considering my options for joining the army
I believe the best time to enlist is after we bring the troops home from Iraq.
